Jay, love it when you go exploring the old back roads and the abandoned places! It’s so cool to document these places before they get bulldozed and razed to the ground. So much history in these old places, glad you’re doing your part to be sure they’re not forgotten. 👍 Best of luck and continued Safe Travels!

I love love when you do these videos! A fun fact… when Nestle bought our old swimming hole in Crystal Springs, a lot of our wells went dry in Zephyrhills because they pumped so much water from the spring to make Zephyrhills water. Many of us had to have our wells go deeper.

That place with the Phillips 66 sign in Mascotte is or was an antique store. Don’t know if that part is still open or not. The lady that owned it was opened once in a blue moon. I got to go into it once. Had some cool stuff in there. The two buildings next to used to be a store called Sweet Nothings which was a rustic/country nic nac shop that recently closed and moved to Tennessee. I used to go there a lot so that’s why I know about the place. Just in case you want to know the town is pronounced “mascot”.

A few years ago me and the kid that was driving my work truck got pulled over by the literal chief of police in center hill. It’s one of the towns in Florida where the speed limit leading in to town goes from 55 to 35 then back in probably less than a mile. It’s pretty funny when the police chief pulls you over and gives you a warning.

Not sure if it was apart of the Dixie this would have been back in the early 1800s when the military used it to travel back in forth from tampa to north florida

@Tampa Jay I actually looked it up. So uts was originally kings road. Went from Tampa to Jacksonville. The myrtle beach kings went from Savanah to Boston. Both are equally as old and had similar uses. Named both after king charles.
