I lived there.for 8 fun, wonderful years of my life back in the 80's & 90's. There was always interesting places to go to, restaurants along the water ways, after work happy hour party's and night time disco to have fun times at back then. This is a great video that show how it has grown and is a very fun, beautiful place to visit.

There’s two sides to Hollywood’s here. There’s one you show with bright sun and pretty colors, then, there’s the dark side. The city commission and mayor are the worst. They’re all politicians with very little leadership skills. The city manager, the worst, it’s always pass the buck with him. Morale, at all time low as far as the city employees. The worst is with the police department. We never have enough police particularly for the night shift, I won’t even begin to tell you how bad it is. We have a tremendous problem with the homeless, Hollywood has instituted many homeless programs and outreaches which only encourages homeless people to come here. There are many feeding facilities for them. A lot of them end up on the beach, along US 1, and other areas of Hollywood. The Broward County magistrates refused to enforce any ordinances on the homeless, there are many lawyers which defend them. The police have become frustrated and refuse to enforce any ordinances against the homeless. The homeless basically have dominion over any place they wish to convert to their abode. It’s a nightmare to deal with them. That’s just the beginning of the problems. Hollywood faces constant neighborhood destabilization due to vacation houses and airbnb. It’s almost a guarantee, if you sell a home with a pool, it will be purchased by some vacation home investor. They don’t care who they rent to, and in many cases it’s hell on earth for the neighbors who live there. Just about every fourth house in my neighborhood is a vacation home for rent. Loud parties vehicles going at all times of the night and day, never ends. We had good governmental services in the past to support the people and city. Most of the departments within city government have been closed or reorganized, having a major impact on the quality of life here. Public works department has been decimated to the point that streets, street lighting, tree, and landscape maintenance have been neglected. Some areas look third world. They call this a “Tree City,” they barely have enough equipment to maintain trees and landscaping throughout the city. As a result, trees overgrow into street and sidewalks making life risky to say the least. It’s a joke. There’s a high amount of rental property in Hollywood. Much of it is neglected by the owners who only wish to pull money out of Hollywood. They never spend any money on the property itself. As a result, property standards in Hollywood are at a all time low. There is a code enforcement department, but there’s never enough to make a difference. This is one job in the city that will never end, keeping homeowners in compliance with property standards. Seems like most homeowners don’t have any personal pride in where they live or how they live. In years past Hollywood Boardwalk used to have extra police on bicycles patrolling at night. They took that a way to save money due to budgetary issues. Most of Hollywood Beach is under what’s known as a CRA (Community Redevelopment Agency) it’s rumored the city commissioners make about $20,000 a year being appointed to the CRA board. If those commissioners gave up their 20,000 a year they could add two more police on bike patrol to Hollywood Beach at night. This would go a long way towards cleaning up Hollywood Beach at night. As things go in Hollywood, that idea will go right down the tubes. This city is run like a Third World circus! In closing, I live in Hollywood, as I sleep at night, I sleep with my eyes open. When I go out in this city I “walk heavy,”when I walk along the boardwalk at night I am extra vigilant of my surroundings. I was born and raised here, I know what goes on.

@@SA-hz1rs Yes, it can be pretty close to hell. Same day you commented I went to the beach at night to walk. While sitting on the bench two “fellas” came walking by, a few minutes later I heard voices behind me. They were on a road just off the boardwalk, the two split up, and one came and sat on the bench right next to me. I thought for sure I’d get robbed. I didn’t know what was going on, but apparently there was a robbery or theft at one of the stores on the beach. The police were looking in the area, I guess he saw them, came to sit on the bench to blend in. I got up with my hand on my gun, never turn my back on him as I left. There’s been robberies of people at night, they had a police involved shooting a few months back. Almost killed by a drugged out behind the wheel driver who thought the boardwalk was a road and decided to travel at 50 miles an hour down it. He missed me only by a few feet, if I was wearing headphones I would’ve been dead. He did make contact with people on the Boardwalk, I heard he went to prison on attempted murder charges. You should Google, “Crocodiles on Hollywood Beach.” I’m sure the “croc” came out of Westlake Park a.k.a. Anne Kolb Park. I consider Hollywood like a frontier town.

Grew up in Hollywood, owned a house in Dania, had to move to Palm Bay in Brevard County to take care of my parents. Miss my friends and the cool clear waters to swim in, dark and rough just 2 1/2 hrs north. Sebastian inlet has a swimming lagoon but just not the same🫠

Truly. Not many people, Floridians included, really know about all the wonderful locations in Florida - right under our noses. There are so many nice beach towns within 60 minute drive of most places, even if we ourselves live in a nice location. So many quaint, well kept, clean beach towns abound, that most Floridians don't even bother to visit other places nearby. Happens when we live in a state full of natural beauty and seaside riches.

As a local you did a great job showing off the area the only thing I'm upset about is that you completely missed THE TACO SPOT its in between margarita Ville and the Florio's pizza. Anyone coming to the Hollywood area should visit this restaurant , I've had most of the food on the boardwalk and THE TACO SPOT hands down has the best food there(mexican asian fusion.) I love that u included flamingo gardens hidden gem of my home town Davie, if you have kids you should really take them there. You should have included Sawgrass Mills mall which is across the street from the BB&T center . I loved the video it was cool to see my area and again great job with all the drone footage and local spots. 9/10 Because u missed taco spot ;D

yea some beaches are like Dog Beach in this video. There is also on in next weeks video in Ft Lauderdale. I think as long as you clean up after your dog, and you are in a area with no life guards you should be ok, dont think people will bother you.

One of the areas I’ve started to research for towns to move to, love the proximity to Miami, and the keys without actually living in the big city, absolutely pristine beaches, and love the boardwalk as well. Clearwater, St. Petersburg, and Hollywood are my top 3 as of right now.

South Broward is Beautiful from Hollywood, to Hallandale Beach, and Fort Lauderdale these are the best city in Broward County the night life and the Beaches are amazing great place to live and travel to.

We'll be doing those later in the spring or early Summer. With the Tropical weather in South Florida when you get regular Thunder storms every day coming, we want to do as many videos further south, then start to do the panhandle again.

Yes please do so all of Florida’s beautiful coast line is represented. The Panhandle beaches are absolutely breathtaking also. I was raised in that area. Here’s someone’s good homemade video of the beaches in the area and the beautiful water and sand kzbin.info/www/bejne/nICsqKpjo7KHbsU. Pensacola beaches are also stunning. It also has an amazing history and is the oldest city in the US. Well they compete with St.Augustine for that title. Lol. Those beaches are not as developed unless you get to Destin and Panama City. Navarre Beach is probably still my favorite. Never get used to the beauty of those beaches in person. But record on a clear sunny day if possible. If there’s a storm in the Gulf and it’s cloudy and windy the water is not as clear and inviting. But still beautiful.🌴

Be careful where you stay during your visit to Hollywood Beach. The Broadwalk has a fun vibe and is great for people watching but he’s right, you can easily end up in a dump. Definitely read reviews and don’t trust the photos. Try waking up at 2 AM to loud music and what sounds like drug deals right outside your window. Ask me how I know...

You can do it by Tri-Rail. Take Metro Rail from Airport to a stop in Maimi than transfer to Tri-Rail
