Hearing the mother say she had to hang up the phone because she didn’t want her last memory of her daughter to be the sounds of her begging for her life gave me chills. Can’t imagine how helpless she felt.
@moniquebrown44852 жыл бұрын
That sound so selfish to me. I totally understand. Like, identifying your child's body. Noone wants to remember the lost in that state. But she kept hanging up on her child who was fearing for her life. I'm a mom of two (16 yo girl, 7 yo boy). If my child, God forbid, chose to call me in a moment of fear like that, I'd stay on the line so they wouldn't feel abandoned in that moment. As much as it would destroy me inside, I would not do that. Did she even tell her that she love her back? That she forgive her? That she was never a bad kid or there was nothing to forgive. If you believed that's your child's final moments, don't make it about you. Be there for them no matter what. That little girl is so strong.

“Did the swat team knock on the door” -Like what does the interviewer expect her to say maybe “Oh ya the swat team knocked they didn’t want to disturb the shooter”

I get not wanting to hear your child die, but I still can't imagine hanging up on my child when they needed comfort the most. I probably would have told her to stop talking and just don't move. I would be afraid to talk only because the shooter might hear. But even in silence knowing your loved one is there can still be comforting. Very tragic situation.

If my child had to go through something like that the LEAST I could do is try and comfort them through it , it’s an honour she got to even speak to her in that moment , I know we can’t judge until being in that situation but god I don’t think I could forgive my mum if she hung up on me in that situation

No, you wouldn't have. Because you weren't in that situation. You don't react normally.

I don't care what anyone says, that kind of cowardly act is almost unforgivable.. if the only thing I could do for my daughter in that moment was to tell her I was there and that I loved her, to close her eyes and be brave, to feel my arms, my love, my strength pouring into you, then I would do whatever was necessary to ease just a fraction of her fear, to just be there when she needed someone the most, because no matter how scared I was, how afraid I was that my daughter would be killed, nothing I was feeling would hold a candle to the fear my baby was in. Hanging up on her would never have crossed my mind, I know myself, and hanging up on her would NOT have been an option.

I don’t really understand the mother’s reaction to hang up… I understand people do weird stuff in traumatic situations but I just can’t wrap my head around that reaction? To hang up on your daughter while she is fearing for her life.

this woman had enough courage to hide under a DEAD BODY. Because she had known that it was her life that could’ve been taken away. Rip to the 17 beautiful innocent students who passed away.

Honestly it funny to think that with the pressure to maintain academics- we gotta feel the pressure to be safe and alive at the same time. *love that for us*

same with the fact that we go to school which is supposed to be a safe place and you don't really know when you go to school one day if you will come back . And that's the sad reality of it all.
