I spent may hours collecting shark teeth at Venice, and other nearby beaches. I vacationed there back in the 70's, 80's, and 90's. They were far more plentiful back then. We did not need the collection rake, as they just washed up on the beach.

If you loved hunting for shark teeth, you gotta go to Myrtle Beach SC!!! Some of the best I've ever seen, and I've lived all over Florida 💯

My grandparents moved to Venice back in the mid seventies. We spent many vacation days on those beaches. As others have mentioned, the sharks teeth were far more prevalent back then. My grandfather had a great big bowl of them along with tons of shells. I hope you had some time to enjoy Venice. Such a great town. My mother and brother still live there.😉✌️

Many of the freshwater springs in central Florida also have shark's teeth. Juniper Springs in Ocala is my favorite, all left over from when the state was covered in seawater.

The key to the beach you were at, we go there a lot, look for black rocks. Find area that is not just white shells, you want the rocks…..it is there you will find lots of teeth!

If you go back out, let me know, I can point you to some secret hot spots. Sadly, I won’t be there until either late February or late March to visit my dad, but like I said in the short, I love going for the teeth as often as I can while there. Yet to find a really big one in the beach, but people occasionally do.

Do they have black sand in Florida? I live close to Crystal Cove, Newport Beach, California and we find black sand or magnetite on our sands…

I don't think on the beach, most of the sand here is aragonite sand. but I think they have it near the peace river inland
