Santa Clara needed a late equalizer to force OT in the 2020* NCAA women's soccer championship, but the Broncos dominated the shootout, beating the top-seeded Florida State 4-1 to capture its second national championship in program history. FSU have been crazy good for the past few years. SCU hasn’t gotten far until this year.

FSU plays in the ACC, which had 4 of the top 10 teams in the country. Santa Clara plays in the WCC, where the next highest-ranked team is BYU at 17. It's also been a while since Santa Clara was in it, while Florida State has won a few National Championships recently. And it was a short, weird season for everybody, so it was probably harder than in most years to determine who was really the best. Besides, 11 isn't that low a ranking. If this were the NCAA tournament, the 11th-ranked team would be a 3 or maybe 4 seed.
