I'm in SW Florida, Lehigh Acres. I adjusted to the heat quickly when I moved here seven years ago. I've never seen a water moccasin but I don't live that close to the water, other than a canal at the end of my street. Black racers are common. They're not hazardous and are helpful for controlling things that are. I love it here.

It's funny that I got two comments on the Florida thunderstorm today, the day I arrived in Austria with friends that I'm visiting for two weeks. I bought my house in FL from them and we hit it off so well they come back for vacation every year while I visit my children in CT and this time when they returned home I went with them. It's developed into a wonderful friendship and wait till you see the vids from Austria! Coming soon.

As you probably saw from my earlier post above, I lived in Central Florida, specifically in the city of Satellite Beach, from 1969 to 1971 when I was a little kid in elementary school. We were a military family and lived in the Patrick AFB south housing units which most of them are torn down and gone. Anyway, we had thunderstorms like this one almost every day in the summer. They were quite exciting indeed. But the only thing you have to worry about are hurricanes like the one that went through here back in September, Hurricane Matthew. We had the tail end of a hurricane came through where we lived sometime either in 1970 or 1971. It was so severe that we were without power for like eight hours or so. Being I was so young, I was terrified! I cried myself to sleep on my mother's lap and woke up when the power was restored! Other than than, I think it is a lovely place to live. This is especially true for me since I am a huge NASA fan and we lived along Florida's "space coast." If luck has it my way, I am planning on moving back out there to retire and live there for the remaining days of my life. I am in Southern CA now, which is where I have lived since we left Florida in 1971 when we were transferred out here.

We just had heavy rain and storms here in Indiana but noting bad like that one in your video. Some loud lightning but just a few bolts. Also when it ended the power went out and came back on 3 times. Then stayed out. I ii was waiting for a loud crash but there was none. Nipsco reported a power line conductor failure. And had power back in 1 hour. I love storms. Hopefully this year in northern Indiana is ripe with storms. Nature is so beautiful yet so destructive

@RichieRouge206 Thank you for the nice comments. I also enjoy a good thunderstorm every now and then. It's a change from the wonderful weather we usually have.
