Florida and Michigan played in the Opening Round of the 2021 Little League World Series.

The umpires are so inconsistent and bad 🤣 Give the strike zone some more room, I totally get that, but 12 seconds into this video and the umpire is calling a STRIKE 3 on a pitch touching the OPPOSITE batters box 🤣

He sucks. He made one real good catch then he cost his team 3 runs because 3 or 4 different times he held on to the ball not knowing where he should throw it. He had no business throwing home when that runner was 3/4 of the way there yet the guy running to 3rd would have been dead meat but nope give that guy 3rd base

I know they want to make these kids swing the bats, but what are you supposed to do with a pitch inside the opposing batters box? I've never seen so many unreachable balls called strikes before.

It is called the Hula Hoop strike zone. The umpire is trained to keep the games moving forward. That is how they are told to call strikes.

@@broheme8922 Unfortunately it is. Mechanics have changed. The games must move along. Either hit the ball or sit down. Umpires are now directed to use the Hulu Hoop mechanics when calling balls and strikes. “Games should not run over 2 hours 15 minutes.” If games go over that time frame you will not work the LLWS again.
