I'm a male and was a Nurse Manager/ADON at a LTC facility. Multiple times, I fired a nurse or CNA due to poor work ethic and they went to my Administrator and DON and told them I only fired them because they refused my sexual advances. Thank God we had video cameras throughout the building. I have never looked at a co-worker in that way and always strived for top notch professionalism and the best for our residents. I could have lost my nursing license AND been prosecuted. I finally said, "F" that and went back in to commercial construction. There should be severe penalties for false accusations.

Unfortunately, the court fees would probably be more than any reward. Usually in defamation cases, you have to prove there was some kind of consequence to being defamed. Losing income because someone accused you of something and you lost your job, being harassed by people online because you were slandered, etc. It’s usually a civil offense in most states so no jail time and any charges she faces likely won’t cover the court fees and legal counsel he would have to hire so he’d probably only lose money doing that.

Or if she knowingly lied about "...a material fact that substantially affects the adjudication (procedure or the outcome) of the proceeding." (Source: Cornell Law School Legal Information Institute) under oath, then that is perjury. If she never put it in writing, or said it under oath, then she didn't commit perjury. A loophole that needs to be closed, in my opinion. My thought is that a malicious false accusation should be punished the same as the crime the person was falsely accusing someone of.

But she took a minute to think about it, told her friend to leave and proceeded to lie and waste their time. Lying to police about a crime is a first degree misdemeanor in Florida, whether you're the one who called them or not. Whether you're the victim or not. Whether you're just a bystander or not. If they respond to a call to investigate a possible crime and they question you and you respond with a lie, that can cost you up to a year in prison and a $1000 fine. Whether she chose to press charges or not is irrelevant. She doesn't get to decide that. If the video wasn't there to prove her wrong, the cops could've made a judgement call based on her accusations alone like so many do and charged him. The state issues the charges for any sort of assault in Florida, whether the victim's on board with it or not. If a goofball can be arrested and charged for prank calling 911 and wasting their time, then a false accuser who's persistent lies lead to wasting police resources should be held responsible for that despicable behavior as well, by both the state through charges and by their victim through a civil suit. She's currently enjoying another privilege that wouldn't be awarded to someone else if the gender roles were reversed.

The laws gotta change to favor men equally with women. I’m a former correctional deputy. I saw so many men come through the jail who were falsely accused of SA…and when the truth came out, nothing happened to the women who lied. There was one young man who was falsely accused of SA and r@pe by the girl and her parents. He was 19, she was 17…but they had been dating for three years since meeting in high school. For some reason we never figured out, he ended up being found guilty of statuary r@pe and was sentenced to prison. Unfortunately he ended up killing himself after the sentencing. It later came out that the girls parents forced her to lie about their relationship because they didn’t like the kid. No charges were ever brought against the parents and the daughter. This kid was a highly talented quarterback who had a scholarship and was slated to most likely play in the NFL. He killed himself after losing everything he worked so hard for all because of lies…and no one was penalized for it. His parents sued the girlfriend and her parents, but the lawsuit was thrown out. Anytime I see videos like this, it makes my blood boil. The fact a female can feel so comfortable with throwing out false accusations against a male knowing full well that the man is innocent and that she most likely won’t face serious charges is disgusting.
