In a KZbin world full of south Florida animal influencers faking videos for views, it’s refreshing to see some real animal videos. Keep up the good work

Like Jacob Feder? He and his sister are in it for clout not the well-being of the animal but rather how good of a shot can I get while letting the animals suffer in boxes and they take their sweet time removing them one-handed with camera in the other hand. Can't stand fake channels like that
Facts. This has become probably my favorite KZbin channel. Both of them have such great attitudes, and are just so knowledgeable and clearly care a lot about the animals' well being. I freaking love Chris's interactions with the crocodilians, both in captivity and the wild.

You guys should talk to Kamp Kenan about the monitor and see if you can get some advice! I'm sure you know but he had a black throat monitor (that unfortunately was recently stolen) that was really sick when he got it but he managed to bring him into as perfect health as he could possibly be in, I'm sure he would be more than willing to give his two cents on what could be going on with this little guy and give you some ideas on what could help him to recover.

Did u see that he got both of them back? Apparently the people who stole them saw bobby's(the black throat) tail was kinked, realised they couldn't sell it, and through it out the window. Their neighbor found it on their patio(and this was during a cold spell.) His Neuro issues seem to have gotten worse.

It’s a relief to have real, genuine animal lovers on here and now a registered animal rescue. It is just so good to know that you guys have the love, the experience and contacts that can help you out with any animals that are new to you. I hope that little guy continues to improve and thrive in your care, until he is well enough to be rehomed with someone who is ready to be his forever home. Keep up the amazing work.

Without going into too much of a rant, I saw a horse whisperer turn his back to a half wild horse. He stood a few feet away with his back turned and slowly took ten paces or so. Within 20 seconds or so the horse followed behind trying to see over his shoulder as if the horse trainer had something in hand. Anyway I have tried this on a few different animals and it is uncanny how many times the animal will be inquisitive and try and walk to or if the height is so different like Chris and the bird ,he could kneel or crouch while truning away with his hand in front at his chest . Not saying it will work but is usually a handy way to find out the animal is at bease eith you and also inquisitive . Just a thought .

a tip i got from a other video about hopping on your arm. don´t let them hop on your arm, because there isn´t much to hold on for a bird. let them hop on your hand and you can stabalize them with your thump. it´s much safer for them and it is more comfortable for them.

That movement definitely isn't normal in the monitor, it should have grown out of the feeding inaccuracies by this point too. Keep feeding him a diverse diet, to build up his vitamins and minerals. Also if your feeding works that are flat to the ground try feeding it on a softer surface so he can push his nose and lower jaw past the prey item then close his mouth around it until he builds up his accuracy.

I'd assume like other birds you should keep petting to the top of head and neck. With most birds petting down the back under the wings and sometimes beak rubs can be sexually stimulating which can cause aggressive behavior issues as he hormonal bonds to you. I'm glad you reached out to bird tricks im sure Jamie and Dave can offer a lot of helpful tips and advice. 💜 he's a gorgeous bird though and i cant wait to see his progress!
@carrotbeth2 жыл бұрын
I'm glad someone said it. It drives me crazy when I see people petting a bird down their back. I don't even own a bird and I know it's a horrible idea.

Lethargy and clumsiness are indicative of calcium/UVB issues - Savannahs need it pretty hot (120F+ basking) and intense UVB (around UVI 5). The skinny tail really suggests a bit of dehydration as well. I don't think he's got much in the way of MBD yet (it causes zig-zags in the tail joints, one of mine came to me this way), but definitely dust with calcium at least 3x a week and provide strong UVB to prevent future developments. Don't bathe/soak him to work through dehydration - just be sure to give moisture-filled bugs (well fed dubia and nightcrawlers are great for this) and be sure to keep the humidity around 70% since he's so fragile currently. This will be difficult because of the basking spot need but it's doable, usually with a damp hide if they're in a small enclosure for rehabbing.
@Mockturtlesoup12 жыл бұрын
Oh my god that poor Savannah monitor! Definitely looks like some MBD/Neuro stuff going on. And so skinny!😥 luckily he's in the right place, and he looks relatively young so hopefully he won't have too much residual effects for the rest of his life. Do you guys dust your insects with calcium and vitamin D? Obviously you(not to mention your vet(s) know far better than I do, and this is just one quick little snack, I was just wondering(and I'm sure you know they need full spectrum lighting to appropriately absorb and use the nutrients in their food.) Thank you for everything you guys do. You two really are the greatest animal tubers(don't know what to call it, lol) out there. So kind, so caring and so knowledgeable. I swear I learn more in one of your videos than years of watching animal planet. And I just saw you're at Brian Barczyk's place! Can't wait to see the vid(s). Hopefully he can convince you to be on the podcast as well!

Keep up the good work with taking care of the animals. I would try see if Jelly Bean doesn’t like your hat or something else you are wearing. I had a sun conure that hated men with red hats or spiked hair. As you know birds just take time. Sometimes they enjoy if you are loud and sing with them. I remember a scrub jay that used to come over and softly sing to me when I went out in the backyard.
@GallonMilkProductions2 жыл бұрын
He looks like he has some MBD or neurological issues but I think he could get out of it. Tile is kind of a difficult surface for them to grab on too. He's not really acting as "quickly". It might take some time to get him back but he's willing clearly to improve and this is great socialization for him. He's super sweet. Savs are hard to keep because they need insects and lots of them, they often suffer from fatty liver and obesity because their diet when they're giant monitors so finding someone who can care for someone like him is hard.

Also I would give him a higher basking temperature because that's a bit low for Savannah monitors in my personal experience. An easy way to remediate this is just to put down a piece of tile or slate that will reflect the heat.

LOL. Careful or someone might insinuate you are a transphobe. More proof that gender is down to the DNA. Surgery and hormones don’t change your real (DNA) gender. That’s not being anti-trans, of course, just being pro-facts, pro-science (real science). :)

I think if Jellybean is intelligent enough to be able to differentiate between male and female humans then he is smart enough to realize that Chris means him no harm eventually and his aggressive behavior will change.
