Been searching high and low for one of these in the USA but haven't found one yet. Looking forward to getting one.

From what one can see in miniart's web site, the advanced version of the kit additionally comes with some PE and 3 instead of 2 decal variants, plus a detailed gun bay detail as Phil mused. The price tag compared to a strong competitor of theirs in 1/48 WWII airplanes, Eduard, is significant though. ProfiPacks of Eduard's own Spitfires, Bf109s, Wildcats etc. are qualitatively at least on the same level but less expensive.

I got one yesterday and it does look a very nice kit. It does have that feel of a high quality limited run kit, with the surface finish, a bit of flash and a few slightly rough areas. Notice the panel lines and rivets are a little heavy on the lower surface of the wing. I've noticed a few accuracy errors, but they are minor. The main thing is going to be the build experience, if the fit is good with this many part will make or break this kit, for the modeller anyway. The P-38, 165 gal drop tanks are actually napalm fire bombs, as they have got an igniters on the back of them, though if using it like that it need one added to the filler cap as well. Of course just removing the igniter will give you a standard tank. The advanced kit has everything in this kit plus new upper wings with the panels open and obviously everything to go in them. It has got dropped flaps, a seat without harnesses and a more detailed engine bulkhead and engine cowl panels with detail on the inside plus oil coolers, as well as the PE and extra marking option. I'm probably going to wait for the P-47-D-30 boxing before buying the advanced kit.

Oh no! Not another offering of the 'Repulsive Thunderbox'! So, this is the 'Basic' kit, eh? Does this mean it's Mini Art's 'Week-End' equivalent?😂 Seriously, it looks good.

Tamiya kit is awesome value for money. Not so detailed but much cheaper.

The Tamiya always had these egg-plane like super tall clear parts, both Bubbletop and Razorback, and I have been waiting 20 years to finally see it buried for good (though the Tamiya wing leading edge gun inserts are better at aligning the guns with the ground, and I will adapt those).

Yes it is the best P-47: The Tamiya cowl, in top overhead view, tapers from 19 mm wide at the cowl flaps to 17 mm at the front panel line. It should basically be 18 mm throughout (dimension from the CAF P-47N)... That is a cowl taper of 7.59 degrees or 13.33 percent... It just means that accuracy wise, it's poor. I won't even go into the Tamiya clear parts... Why not buy the Mini Art instead, now that we do have a good kit? (I checked and vouch for it)
