Hot glue some felt to the outer ring of the inside hoop. That should keep your fabric from slipping and stay tight. Congratulations on your second floss tube video!! Looking forward to many more from you.

To tighten your fabric in your hoop, wrap the hoop with twill tape. Kimberly Young, owner of Sassy Jacks Shop has a tutorial on wrapping hoops. She does have a floss tube channel. Nice job on your finishes as a new stitch. Thanks for sharing what you have learned.

You're doing great for being so new to stitching, you're bold and are doing a great job! When figuring out the count of the linen pieces, be sure to count across and then up, the count needs to be the same horizontally and vertically. Not all linen is cross stitch linen and if it's not even, your design will stitch up wonky. Take it from someone who stitched on uneven linen and ended up with a weird piece.
@Joanne_TheStoryStitcher
@Joanne_TheStoryStitcher Ай бұрын
Ooh, I didn't know that and I'm so glad you mentioned. I counted across and it was 36 count so I'll be sure to count down as well. Appreciate the tip!

To tighten your hoop you can wrap twill tape around the inner hoop. Or there are other hoops that may get your fabric more taunt.

I love your needle minder ideas and they will be so unique! To your hoop tensions issue I’ve found wrapping the inner ring with bias tape or some kind of non-silky fabric helps. The best tension is nurge plastic square hoops but I take my project out each day I’m finished because I had one project the hoop indents wouldn’t come out no matter my ironing(but I did leave it in for 6 months… oops lol).
@Joanne_TheStoryStitcher
@Joanne_TheStoryStitcher Ай бұрын
I appreciate the hoop tips, Breanne! I'll try and get my hands on some bias tape and give that a go. 🙂 I completely understand leaving it in the hoop! Sometimes I just don't feel like taking out my project so usually leave it for at least a few days. I'm sure that as I build up WIPs, I'll probably come across one in the hoop a little too long too. ;)

Love the colors used in Pumpkins For Sale. The little goose and mushrooms are so cute. I don't think the mushrooms are juvenile at all. Mushrooms seem to be a come back decorative thing and I don't mind. They're quite fascinating. Also a nice start on Little Women. Good to see you again!

I also use a hoop to stitch but I use plastic cuz I feel like they tighten better with the fabric and I can get it pretty taught. I put my project in the hoop and as I'm tightening the hoop I also pull the fabric so it gets tighter and tighter as I'm tightening the hoop. Gosh, I hope that makes sense lol. I have to have mine super taught lol. Great video again and such fun projects you are working on 👍🏼 🙌🏼

Sandy, That's helpful to know. I'll start looking for a plastic hoop to try out. I can imagine how it would be a little more grippy than the smooth wood. And LOL - your instructions made sense!😊 I'll keep practicing the techniques and hopefully make some more progress with it.

Great choice of fabric for Little Women. If you aren't happy with the tightness in the hoop, you may need to try something different like a Nurge hoop, tension hoop, or a Qsnap. You did some great thrifting. I did pretty good the last time I visited a few thrift stores here. Great finds for needle minders.

Deanne, I really appreciate those tips! I need to look into getting a Nurge hoop or a tension hoop. This is just an inexpensive one from Amazon and it's pretty, but very smooth which doesn't help ;) I did end up switching it over to my Qsnap which is working a lot better. Thanks for stopping by and great job on those thrifting finds. It's so fun!
