Heya! My wrinkled Village Serene cross-stitch gets the spa treatment in this video as I wash it, press it, stretch it, pin it, and lace it onto a mounting board. Sorry for the bits of awkward, still working on my production technique, lol.

I'm still researching the artist behind this piece, Daniel Gorman. :)

Just want to say that your tutorial was awesome. Thank you for doing this. I think the lacing really makes a difference in the tidying up the back. See you next time. Happy Stitching 🪡

Oh thank you so much for this tutorial. Being in my 70s therefore on a fixed income, everything that can save me money is great. When I go to thrift stores, I often look for used frames so that stretching tutorial will come handy. Really enjoy your process, and I did look at the link for the graph design apps, that was brilliant and I saved it for future ventures… mind you with all the WIPs and kitted up and charts to be kitted up, I’ll need to live to 150 to make a dent in all the beautiful stitching in store lol, but enjoying all the things so far. Hearty cheers from Montreal, Eastern🍁 Canada 🇨🇦

This is excellent. Thank you so much! It never actually occurred to me that I can pin and lace my pieces before I bring it to a big box store to frame them. I've been so iffy about taking it to some place like Michaels for framing because of how they stretch the pieces unreliably. I've watched both of your videos and I'm excited to see more from you! You're absolutely delightful!

I like your thought on stitching in the guideline. I’ve pinned once and laced twice, I really like the lacing alone (no pinning), for me it goes quicker. But really like the idea of having the threaded guidelines for linen. Thank you for sharing. ☺

Well that was a handy tutorial! My biggest takeaway is that I need to be more patient … I try to rush things or harbour the view that there must be a faster way. How silly. Especially when one considers the work we are preparing …. thousands of stitches that took countless hours … what is the rush at this point in the piece?! Thanks Laura you have given me lots to think about on this holiday Monday! Now up to my craft room…..

I love the way you stitched a guide line. I have often really struggled with mounting a piece straight. And making your piece the size of an “off the shelf” frame, never thought of that either. I will definitely keep that in mind for future pieces. Hi from Edmonton, AB

I always use a white towel so potential dye from your towel doesn’t bleed onto your project.

You might try sequin pins which are shorter. Also be careful with pins in your mouth. People have been knock to accidentally inhaling them

Good video. I too mat and frame my own things, I can’t see the cost for matting and framing for my pieces unless it is for a super special project. I also use the mat board and I had a Professional framer tell me in time the glue from the mat board will wear and get into your threads. I just don’t know about that. I know many many people use it and I will continue too. As long as it is archival. Right?

Thank you Jill for your kindly reminder. It's a very old habit that I do unconsciously. I haven't heard of people inhaling pins before, that sounds horrible!
