Flosstube #24 New Year SAL's and some possible plans!

Happy New Year! I can't picture you as Ma Kettle - at least as I picture her. I think of her from the 30s movies (Marjorie Main, I think). Thanks for the HATS parade. I saw a few that I'm seeing in a new light. Matilda Swallow, for example. I think the temple is a Temple of Fame, which (along with the checkerboard skirt) is found in Elizabeth Weston and Esther Benson's samplers. Both of which I need to stitch. I look forward to learning more about the First Ladies and their stitching. Take care.

Ohhhhh to have all the HATS patterns that you do! Amazing! Because of you my stash of HATS will be increased this year…what an enabler you are! Can’t wait for the Brenda SAL…believe it or not I’ve managed to snag a piece of Hemingway and the NPI’s are in the mail soooo I’m good to go. 2023 looks to be a great year for stitching. I only hope all of us make the yearly progress we’ve planned for this month…sticking to “the plan” tends to get a bit shaky about the middle of summer!🤣🤣

I think Pa Kettle would love to see Ma Kettle in HATS !! Loved your HATS parade.. I have wanted to start my 1st HATS sampler & this SAL gives me a good reason to go for it! BTW Happy belated birthday to your son....the same day, my husband & I celebrated our 48th Anniversary!! I am looking forward to my package from the Attic with Hemmingway and Brenda's Birthday SAL chart...she & I share the same birthday; just wish I was 60 again!!! See you next time!

Thanks for the video. I always enjoy your WIP parades and am looking forward to the First Ladies videos. I finished up my HATS WIPs last year but would like to get another one started soon. Enjoying your fabrics and plan on doing at least one of my 2023 SALs on some...I just need to make a decision and finish kitting up!

Thank you, Thank you for the tip on keeping the sleeves for the NPI silks. I rushed to the trash can and fished them out. And glad you spoke about needing two of the NPI 243. I am already working on Martha Evans and we are going to definitely need 2 skeins. Great Flosstube, really enjoyed.

I really loved this seeing all of the charts I just got back into stitching last year I used to in the 80's. I do not have any HATS I Love all of charts someday. I finished HATS Harriet Gobey last year. Now I am working on the Florence Mary Dickinson SAL. I'm doing mine on Brea, and a lot of others are doing theirs on Dirty Teacup. I remember Ma and Pa Kettle! I loved watching their movies on weekend afternoons on TV. Do you remember Francis the Mule? Before there was Mr. Ed, there was Francis. 😂

Rachel, I’m so glad you love Matilda Swallow. She truly was a fun sampler to stitch. The building in the center is a Temple of Fame, and the angels with trumpets on either side are symbolic of the voice of God. There are several Temple of Fame samplers out there, including Esther Benson and Elizabeth Weston. ❤

I love Hats Samplers. The charts are so nice to stitch from. I chuckled when you said you have an aversion to purple because the most fun Hats sampler I’m working is Tom Foolery because of that great purple border. I have the same "project bags" as you do. I have sewn my own clothes all my life and one day I will make some "real" project bags for myself and my friends.
