When you were talking about your grandmother, you brought back so many memories of my childhood with my grandparents … oh how I miss them … I always said I had 2 mommas and I would tell everyone that I was the baby of my grandparents … my granddaddy was a cotton farmer and even though he was in the field everyday he would always have to go see his cotton on Sundays … and guess who had to go with him … Me … oh how I loved to go too … what precious memories … loved your stitching today and your Nutcracker is coming along … it is so pretty … so until next time Happy Stitching 🧵 … 😊❤ Dena

I'm so happy that you had such a special grandma Niecie. My grandma was a huge blessing in my life. I get my creativity from her. 😊 Blue jays are ornery birds but very pretty, especially in cross stitch. Jonathan says hi to you, Ketch and Pap!

Thank you Niecie Lynn for another most enjoyable video. Your cross stitch is fabulous, as always. You are such a kind, caring person. Thank you for sharing your story about your grandma. It took me deep down memory lane. My great-grandmother was that person for me. Everytime I hear your clock chiming in the background I think of her. She had a clock that chimed exactly that way.

Oh Niecie, i always have a good laugh with you during videos, but today the tears flowed…happy tears. We were at my grandparents house every weekend when we were kids. Since they had 8 kids, there were 20+ ready made friends in my world with all my cousins. My grandparents were very poor, but we didn’t see that as kids. They always made sure there was a kickball or volleyball or something so we had something do to together (and knew which grandkids HAD to be on the same team to keep the fights to a minimum). Some of my favorite memories were holidays at their house, which was a single wide mobile home. Grandpa was adamant we all eat at the same time, so the adults would find seats at the table or with trays, but us kids had the best setup. Grandpa would bring in picnic table benches from outside and put them down the middle of the hallway. We would sit on either side of those benches and laugh and cut up and just be in the moment. And we LOVED it when a grownup had to go to the bathroom, cause they would have to go outside around the house and in the back door!!!! I think what you are trying to figure out is the living in the moment we were able to do then. We didn’t know (or care) what others were doing, we were in our world playing the things we loved with the people with knew. The 24 hour news cycle and the social media of today’s world have a few good qualities, but i feel like they do more harm than good. We don’t just try to keep up with the Joneses next door, now we try to keep up with the joneses AND the Smiths, AND the Johnsons, AND everyone else we met once in our lives and added as a friend on social. These days, KZbin is the extent of social for me. I know there are bad situations all over the world, and I know I’ve been blessed more than others, but there are many more blessed than me. I can’t take the constant bombardment of evil from the news and FOMO and comparison on the socials so I just stopped. I feel so much better in my world when it doesn’t feel so big and scary…like I felt in my childhood.😊

Great progress on your WIPS! Such good memories you have of your grandma. Growing up both of my grandmothers lived with us so home was our special place. I lost my one grandmother and my mother shortly after I got married and moved out That was 38 years ago. I tear up every time I think about those olden days. I love to cross stitching especially if it has a flag on it. Have a great week and Happy Stitching!

Thank you for sharing your stories. I have learned that it is okay to be vulnerable and to cry. While it is uncomfortable, it just shows that the reason you are crying has meaning to you. I loved the flag pattern you showed. We are a patriotic family, and it would mean so much to me to stitch that pattern.

I feel the same way about my grandmothers house. It was my happy place. I felt like time stood still and it was only us in the world. My cousins and I would have weekend sleep overs all the time. I still remember the layout of the house and where everything was, the smell and the feeling that I would get walking in. It’s a feeling that can’t explained but never leaves us. I get emotional just thinking about it. I have the pleasure of seeing a blue jay fly through my yard during the year. Have a great week.

Hi Niecie, I always love your floss tubes because I always love what you stitch and I feel like I have known you forever. I loved how you spoke about your grandparents, as the youngest of 7 my grandparents were all gone before I came along so I missed out on those wonderful memories, so as a grandma of 5 now, we are attempting to create what we know we would have had with ours! Beautiful stitching, and now I have to go place an order from the Salty Stitcher!! 😊

I love hearing your sweet memories about mamaw's house, I feel the same way about growing up in my Grama's house. She is why all I wanted to be when I grew up was a mom and have and house full of kids and family. Thank you for sharing that special cross-stitch that captured your feelings for her and her home.

Glad I caught you today. Didn't hear about your heart patient because I was dealing with one of my own. And dealing with him, I managed to mess up my neck just from carrying things unbalanced. I told my friend we need to start treating ourselves like the little old ladies we've become. A little stitching and a little crocheting while we both try to recover in this household. Thanks for keeping me company. I do love a pretty Blue Jay. Our squirrels run around in the trees no matter how cold or snowy it is up here. They are great fun to watch. Stay safe and don't let your pipes freeze!

Well, dang it Niecie! I can’t stitch while I’m crying and you had me crying while you were talking about your Grandma. I agree with you- if we could figure the magical element that she, and some others, have, we could change the world! I don’t have grandkids yet, but if/when I do I hope to be like your Grandma! Xx

Great flosstube. My sister lives in Krum, TX and sent a video of the snow, so beautiful. Loved your childhood memories at your grandma's house. I loved going to my grandma's. My cousins and I would have so much fun. She taught us how to cook and bake several things. Boy do I miss those days. Twin Peak Barn is so cute, I love stitching chickens for my kitchen.

In Missouri, we had an ice storm last Saturday night and all day Sunday. We were fortunate that we only lost power for a couple of hours. Some people still don't have theirs back. When I see a blue jay I always think of my grandson, Calbert. I will always miss him. The flag on the barn on the barn still has ice on it.

Lovely video, I appreciate that you too agree that Christmas does not end until epiphany. Sometimes I wonder how many people really understand that. I fear the younger families are not learning the biblical aspect of the Word as evidence by so many extra activities taking priority over worship. Many local churches are struggling for active membership as the older generation is passing on. I participate in a stitching group at my local church after school, and am the youngest regular attendee at age 60! I just love to cross stitch and have so many more projects than I think I will ever have time to finish! My word for this year is "Grace". Hoping to see you at Stitch Con 2025!

I couldn’t agree more, my Christmas decor stays up for the 12 days of Christmas. I don’t know anyone here in the UK amongst my friends and family that kept theirs up for the 12 days. So many people don’t understand the meaning of Christmas. I’m glad your finger is lots better and hopefully the feeling will continue to return. Barn 💗

Niecie, I agree with you. My Christmas decorations stay up until January 6th. This year until the 7th! I wasn’t interested in stitching the nutcracker but watching your progress may change my mind. The blue jay was perched next to the flag on top of the barn that had a big cross stitch quilt block on the side of it

Always enjoy your videos but this one made me stop and listen to every word about your grandma. My grandparents lived in a very old run down house but like you it's where we all wanted to be. Everything they owned came from a yard sale or an auction. Luckily my children got to experience the same things with them and we still talk about it being the most wonderful comforting place we have ever been and so so thankful for those memories. Take care and know that you always make me laugh and your floss tube is like sitting with a friend!

When you were talking about your grandparents it took me back to my childhood and going to my grandmothers house. It was exactly the way you were saying yours was. I felt as I grew older the reason everyone loved being there was there was no judgment only unconditional love. It was something so pure and gentle I experienced with the her and my mother. A gift I would never forget!

Hi,Niecie! It was 14 degrees up here in Ohio yesterday. My boogers were freezing in my nose at work,Kleenex were useless against such salty icicles!! I have a Texas story for you: In maybe 1979 or thereabouts,we drove up from the Houston area to Fort Worth for thanksgiving. When we drove home,it was classic Texas ice storm. What should have been maybe a 5 hour drive turned into a 16 hour traffic jam!!! As a kid,I LOVED it! It was an adventure!! Obviously my parents were miserable 🤣 But we made a pit stop,we went to KFC,and I remember this, they used to serve chicken giblets, little fried chicken hearts, gizzards, and liver! Ohh so good!!! With that said, stay warm, dear lady🥰

Also, dear Niecie, regarding prayer. I do not pray out loud, that is to say,I do not SAY prayers. I do however, pray in my own way. I always take moments of silence, just silence,no noisy thoughts in my head,I just take that moment to reserve, for people that I care for,and that’s the best that I can do.
