Hi Katie, I love ornaments and I'm planning one ornament for every month on 2024. Your Mom’s ornaments and pillow are fabulous! I'm Italian and we have'nt a great ornament crosstitch tradition, so I start my crosstitch ornament about only two years ago. Happy new year and happy stitching!❤❤❤

The pumpkin pie hat is priceless. Thank you for sharing your beautiful ornaments made by both you and your mom. I'm looking forward to your one ornament per month and think that's a great idea to get ornaments done by next Christmas. Wishing you a very Happy New Year and looking forward to your next video and a recap of the Attic.

Happy New Year Katie! I am just getting caught up, I was a few episodes behind. The stitchy gifts your mother made you for Christmas were beautiful! She is so talented, I see where you get it from. 😊 I agree, keeping up your tree until mid January sounds wonderful. And your Nutcracker turned out so sparkly!! What color lights do you like on your trees? I like white. And can I just say as I write my paragraph…your glass ornaments are stunning! WOW! Happy Stitching!

Just a thought, but if you saw trees by the curb, they were probably real, & put up early & dried out, the needles were dropping. The owners probably had no choice but to dispose. I did go over to Susan's floss tube, & loved her antique tree. I'm doing something similar and it will be left up all year. Happy New Year!

Hello Katie, Happy New Year! Very much enjoyed your video! I like to put up my Christmas tree in October! I turn on the lights Thanksgiving day evening. We enjoy it all thru the Christmas season. I usually try to take it down just after 3 Kings Day. Last year my husband wanted it up even longer! Your ornaments and your mother's are absolutely beautiful.

Sweet ornaments and gifts! I'm rather shocked how a framing shop could let their work go out the door like that. Perhaps inexperienced help or holiday rush? Hopefully, they are gracious in fixing the problems. I like Prairie Schooler on tan-ish fabric, but I did a few as gifts a couple of years ago on navy that I really liked. Of course, I changed out most colors, added sparkly stuff, and beads. It's fun to make patterns your own with changes. Happy New Year to you and yours. ❤

I was pretty appalled, and I'm even angrier now - they were brutal about it. It took reading them the riot act to even get them to take a look ('surely it's just a bit of dust'), they still tried to brush me off, and when I put my foot down and someone finally took it seriously, they found glass shards inside. Oh look, I wasn't crazy! No apology either. Rant over - Happy New Year! May it be full of happy stitching and no horrid framing people!

I've been out of the rhythm of FlossTube watching, and how great was it to start back with this video?! Pretty darn great! I sure do appreciate your silly side, along with your analytical side! Thank you Anna! And I'm sure I'll be ranting about it on the next episode so you'll get to hear this twice, but University Art was awful about the whole thing. They said it was just a bit of dust and I needed to clean the glass, I insisted there was a problem and they reluctantly took it in. Then called a day later to say it had been fixed, and when I asked what had been done to repair the chip, they hemmed and hawed and said there was no chip, just a bit of fluff. I insisted it be looked at again before I would pick it up, then they finally called me back to say that they had opened it up, looked under light, and found glass shards inside. So they wouldn't take me seriously and were about to give it back to me unfixed until I insisted. Again. I am just spitting mad - it's one thing to make a mistake, but don't insist that I'm crazy when you've got bits of glass in there because no one can be bothered to check. Sorry about the rant, this only just went down and I am still hair on fire furious!

Happy New Year Katie! I have had a bad framing experience in the not so distant past. Excited to pick it up, you get home and "Oh no!", something completely out of place jumps out at you. Back it goes. I'm glad to see you giving part of the PS Santa canon the sparkle/prim treatment. I've done most of those Santas, including the 2016 one with the deer which you showed. Have you noticed that the deer only has three legs? I was so unnerved by that I drafted a fourth leg before I stitched it. That utility cart is going to come in handy for transporting your haul from The Attic. See you there...😉

I hadn't noticed! I admit I've been so busy with Symposium preparations that I've barely given the charts a second look - I'll have to add another leg as well, that will freak me out. Looking forward to the Attic - and yes, I think we'll all need utility carts!!!

Another fabulous video! I have a question from your previous video “Stitching with Katie.” I noticed your linen edges are so smooth and do not appear serged or zig-zagged. How do you finish the edges to prevent fraying?
@katiestrachanembroidery
@katiestrachanembroidery 11 ай бұрын
Thank you! I don't finish the edges - if it's cut perfectly on the grain fraying isn't much of a problem, you lose a spare thread here or there but that's it.

Happy New Year. Those hats are awesome, at first glance I thought the jellyfish was the Cookie Monster, my bad. So glad you had a great Christmas. Your ornaments are beautiful as well as what your Mom made for you. Always great to get handmade items. We got a bacon ornament for we have these old glass stained ribbon candy ornaments, absolutely gorgeous but our sons always call it bacon so they decided to get us a glass bacon ornament, totally loved and appreciated. The History is a great idea for framing, I did something like that for my son and his fiancé, doing samplers that have the heritages from both sides for their anniversary each year. So sorry about the framing, I have no words and trust me, museum glass is not cheap, did I they put spacers between the linen and glass? Wonderful Life definitely needs a tree, just saying. I thought of doing the 12 by 12 too but will see, I start out good and then tend to drop around March. Enjoy the Sampler Symposium!

The bacon ornament story sounds like something my brother would do! And yes, the framers did put spacers in - I had given very detailed instructions about every aspect of the framing given that they're not specialists in needlework, not that it helped!!!

Happy New Year! I have a coworker whose wife has Christmas completely put away by 4pm on Christmas Day. She loves the holiday and decorates like crazy on December 1st, but wants it all gone before the day is over. When he was one of my regular shift partners, he would come to work exhausted if we worked Christmas evening because they had a big family do and presents with their three young children and then had to have everything packed away before he left for work. I'll probably take my tree down this weekend, but I'm always a bit sad to pack away all of my hand made ornaments. 🪡👠
@katiestrachanembroidery
@katiestrachanembroidery 11 ай бұрын
I can't even imagine, that sounds so exhausting! I kind of get the mindset - it's over, rip the bandaid off and put it away - but Christmas itself is tiring enough without adding all the cleanup. I know I'm always tired and ready to fall into bed when I get home just from Christmas festivities, and we don't do anything big or elaborate. I'm taking my tree down tomorrow as it would be fully dried out by the time I get back from the Attic, but I am already so sad about having to put my treasures away!
