Wow she is a very respectful classy woman. A very good strong 400 hurdle that will for sure get a model contract and should be in commercials. She gave Dahlia her flowers 👍👌. Hope she gets a medal🥇🏅

Dalilah is a legend and has amazing worth ethic and has always been humbled in spite of her inspirational success. It has been an honor watching her for so many years excel in the 400m hurdles. She has also had major contributions to the success of our USA 4 X 400M Relay!!! 🙌 ❤ 👏

Dalilah and Boogie absolutely revolutionized the sport and made it must-see TV with Sydney especially. The media in general hasn't paid anywhere near enough attention to her full story.

Most of these athletes are smart with degrees. They may not interview with pretentious vocabulary or a palatable tone of voice that aligns with what you deem intelligent but that doesn’t make the others any less smart than the two mentioned in your comment.
@gorillax1374
@gorillax1374 5 күн бұрын
@@Jaedub86 These two are qualitatively more insightful and articulate than most of the others. They don't just spew sports platitudes about "team efforts" etc. They have well formed ideas and they propound them in complete paragraphs. Take what Cockrell said about Dalilah Muhammad. Not only was it a nice antidote to the rampant narcissm typical of top tier athletes, it was vastly better "big picture" commentary about the history and current state of the sport than the least commmon denominator, "how do you feel about that" journalism of the interviewer. That kind of insider analysis of sport is what they pay ex-athletes huge sums to do but they rarely deliver.
@acetofresh1
@acetofresh1 4 күн бұрын
@@Jaedub86stop it. Having a degree means little, it’s near unanimous today. Most of these athletes aren’t particularly intelligent. You don’t expect that from athletes of certain demographics in america. Many of them left without receiving a degree btw. They’re usually degrees in some of the least challenger majors as well. OP is right, they stand out and rightfully so. There’s a bigger trend in america of athletes being pretty dumb and poor academics at the elite level: Derrick Rose, Angel Reese, Reggie Bush. We used to have entire scandals revolving cheating.
@Jaedub86
@Jaedub86 4 күн бұрын
@@acetofresh1 well add yourself to the list because I specifically said “…are smart AND have degrees.” An adjective as well as a separate possessive noun. Intelligence is subjective and honestly not a major factor in a free market capitalist society. Intelligence level doesn’t not get you through life, money, lifestyle choices, and good health get you through life. “Athletes of a certain demographic” are in good health and make a substantial amount of money. I’m not sure what you determine intelligence by but if I were you, reading comprehension would be a starting point.
@Jaedub86

@@gorillax1374 so you want people after exerting an intense amount of energy to immediately walk over to press, that ask them direct questions about themselves and their performances. You expect them to then have a prepared monologue filled with words average Americans don’t know nor care about all to prove they are smart enough to survive in life? Hmm as I said before you only think this because they use a tone of voice that you find relatable and caters to your pretentiousness. You speak of their intelligence as if they said some revolutionary that will make beneficial changes athletes. They did not, Gabby smiled and gave a long winded summary of her race and answered very specific questions about her races this season nothing any different from ShaCarri Richardson. Anna Cockrell did the same thing however I will give her props for adding a bit of humor in her post race press interview and assuring Delilah was given a proper send off but with that being said Star Athletics swept their event and the excitement, the embrace they shared, and the true “sisterhood” as they put was exemplified in the moment, post race interview with Lewis and in the post race press interview. Even before the trials Melissa Jefferson interviewed with Wallace Spearman at the world relays and discussed her admiration for ShaCarri and TT. She also did the same thing at the prefontaine press interview before the race. TT Terry also gave her version of admiration for Melissa and ShaCarri at the prefontaine post race interview. I’m sure you missed all of those because they don’t speak on a tone of voice that appeases you. Each of those women I have mentioned all pretty much said the same thing but you choose the 2 that have the least AAVE influence which is fine. What’s not fine is calling people unintelligent that are influenced by AAVE and other regional colloquialisms.

Anna is a great up and coming athlete and gave a respectable nod to Deliah, the woman who made the event what it is today. She is a great role model and very personable unlike Sydney. Speaking of Sydney, she is a great athlete but has the personality of a wet blanket

Why can't you appreciate someone without putting down another one? Why Sydney is negatively mentioned while Anna is talking positively
@dmvbay2535
@dmvbay2535 5 күн бұрын
That's the difference between an introvert and an extrovert. When people don't understand an introvert, it's easy to label them as "wet blankets", or "aloof, sneaky, shady" or just plain "sly and ungrateful" people. In reality, they just keep their emotions and thoughts in unless you force it out of them. On the other hand, some people label extroverts as being "loud, overbearing, unconscionable" and people that "talk too much". If we get to know and understand each type of people and accept the great things about them, we would hear less from critics.

@coastalonyx

She's acknowledging Dalilah partly because she is in the twilight of her career and has been under-appreciated during her time at/near the top. She also emphasized her personal relationship and strong rapport with her. Sydney is in her prime and receives plenty of praise, attention, adoration, even veneration. She is nowhere near retirement, and presumably, the same level of closeness, influence and mentorship doesn't exist between her and Ana. Why does she need to "give Sydney flowers" when the world is giving them to her in bundles? Kinda counterintuitive to her saluting Dalilah in this instance.
