Is that a sharky reel? Those reels have a ton of drag!
@TexasAllWaterFishing4 жыл бұрын
Yea it's a sharky 3 it's a solid reel. I keep my drag loose, the kayak adds additional drag to I never try to muscle a fish. I just try to stay tight & let them run. Plus I love that sound lol. It works for me, I lose less fish this way too 🤙🏼

I thought I heard someone say that it"s bad to net a flounder? For fin damage and such and will kill the fish? Let me know? Why net a little fish anyway... I never do... Can't you see it's little...jeeese...
@TexasAllWaterFishing4 жыл бұрын
You thought you heard someone say? Well I rather know the trust about things rather than just listen to what people say, especially if they are not experts in the field. I've never heard that netting a flounder was bad for them. If you find a link or website I would be more than happy to read it & change how I handle them. I net them to better handle them so I don't hurt them or they don't hurt themselves. I am a conservationist at heart. I release well over 90% of the fish I catch. Along with donations to Texas Parks and Wildlife I spend countless hours cleaning shorelines & doing admin duties for Saltwater Soul Shore Patrol so to think that I would harm any wildlife or fish is just ridiculous

@@TexasAllWaterFishing Well, Why do so many youtube vids say so? must be all BS.. You got me on this one Tex... All I have to say is why net a 10" fish anyway....
@TexasAllWaterFishing4 жыл бұрын
@@cobia1794 I net must fish for 2 reasons, 1 is I loss some many fish, it's a curse so I need all the help I can get to land one. 2nd is it makes it easier to handle. I don't was a fish flopping around in my kayak. I've hooked myself very badly a few years ago by doing that. I rather not experience that again. But like anything else everyone has their own way they like to do things I would never think to tell anyone the way I do something is better than the way they do it nor would I ever believe the way I do things is the right way & everyone should follow my lead. I learn so much by watching others & using any knowledge they have. But it's all good 🤙🏼

@@TexasAllWaterFishing Now that I had time to think about it, most of those vid's were from guys in the Pacific. Many don't net or take out of the water to release undersize King salmon either for similar reasons. Took me a while to find it.. but FYI.. www.marinij.com/2017/05/04/fish-wrap-hold-off-on-holding-halibut/ Your the Captain...
