Flour mites & other pantry pests found in food explained. Plus why freezing and containers matter.

When I was a child, my grandmother, would put (bay leaves) in her flour, cornmeal, and sugar canisters… To keep the tiny tiny, itty bitty Bugs called (WEEVILS) they are little black maggot type looking bugs, that somehow and, some way, makes their way into the powder like food, that you h my keep in your kitchen, Now, I’m (54) and, I had some of them in my cornmeal, OMG… it immediately grossed me out, they be crawling all through my cornmeal, hundreds of them, I threw them out, cleaned my cornmeal canister, really good, and bought more, but, sometimes you can buy, cornmeal, flour, sugar and, pancake mix, w/ the (WEEVILS) being already in it… My advise to you, is to check your flour, cornmeal, sugar, and your pancake mix, as soon as you buy them, please please keep your receipt, so, when you return it to the store, you can either get your $ back, or exchange it for another bag… But, sometimes, they can already be in the package at the store, from sitting out to long… My Skin still crawls, when I think about what I saw ( WEEVILS) are they’re name🥹😬🫣😕🥺🤬😝🙁😱

We us Bay leaves, put it in dry goods as well as a few on the shelves.

😩 I just went into my food grade five gallon bucket and found these crawling on the bottom I am so grossed out but I don’t know where they came from I always freeze my flour for at least three days and then I let them come to room temp and put in a bucket as to not lock moisture in them and still got these in my bucket idk what happened

Freeze them when first getting home for five days. per food is the biggest offenders

I found these in pancake mix. I’m ordering all glass airtight storage containers. Also, Put bay leaves, cloves, & sprinkled pepper on all pantry shelves where your food will be!

today i had some really weird insects in the pancake mix (store bought) it had expired years ago and i found small holes in the box and when i looked inside..there were some weird small insects that were of the color black, any idea what this is?

Can they eat pasta or rice. I found thousands of tiny cinnamon colored bugs in my pasta container.yuck

They eat tons of including through foil and plastic. 65K items in the store has flour in it and so most is susceptible 😢
