Hey Gunman,I like the new style of the way you did this vid.It's kind of the best of both channels mixed,you explain what your doing and just jam some tunes and let us watch you laying that clear on showing your mad skills as a painter.I hope I have the same success later this upcoming week doing the same thing,we've had several cool days of rain with high humidity so I'm waiting until we get back to 75 to 80 degrees,sunny and low humidity.I seem to be able to get a better finish off the gun in those conditions.Thanks for answering all my questions this past month it's helped me out alot.You the man,the Gunman that is.Keep up the good work mate.

NIce to see how he appreciates at the end. I heard some real emotion in his words, and very conspicuously absent was the use of the word "yeah" peppered in dozens of places for no reason. Just Oh, and a minute of silence, and there you have it. Well done Gunny nice to see a bit of real emotion. Have heard pro and con about flow coating but this one made me decide to do it on mine.

Hi mate, I have something to say about this. I have noticed that doing a flow coat, finishing in 800 is a must. I have seen what different grades do with my own eyes. I fliw coated a Bonne, had it all wizzed in 800 with a soft Pad, messed around doing something else, then came back to it and noticed a bit of a spot with some orange Peel, grabbed the wizz and gave it a quick buzz,had a look and I had buzzed it with 500 accidentally. I said "she'll be right" cleared it, and in the Sun, you could actually see the little area I hit with the 500 was actually slightly cloudy compared with the rest that was sanded in 800. I would love to see you wizz a bonnet in 800 then mask half of it and then wizz with 500 then flow coat it and then compare it in the sun
@sociopathicnarcissist88104 жыл бұрын
How long after the original paint job is complete can a flow coat be applied? I understand (perhaps incorrectly) that there is a time limit on applying a further clear (flow coat) over the original paint job.

What is the difference between a flow coat and control coat?
@TheGunmanChannel5 жыл бұрын
Flow coat is where we apply the colour followed by 2 coats of clear, then allow it to dry, sand it and re-clear it, it gives immense depth and gloss to the colour. A control coat is the last coat of colour we apply on a metallic colour before clear goes on, lower pressure to 20psi or below and the colour should land nice and even without any mottling or uneven colour dispersion.
@killadelphia2155 жыл бұрын
The Gunman thank you so much for the reply. So lowering the PSI is the secret for laying down silver without mottling?? No wonder I have such a hard time with metallic.. I would turn up the pressure and give a dust coat.. but still got cloudiness and mottling..
@TheGunmanChannel5 жыл бұрын
@@killadelphia215 I've found these days yes, lowering the pressure on last coat helps a lot. I must admit I used to up the pressure for the last coat but it also worked so really I just recommend trying a few different methods and seeing which works best for you. But for me the key is even application, high or low pressure as long as you're spraying each pass at the same speed and distance you're usually pretty good.

Why is 600 used instead of 800 isnt there a chance of scratches showing?
@racediagnostics9 жыл бұрын
Hi GM, great results again, I plan to have a go at this. Can you say what sandpaper you use, I have found that when I dry sand clear with a DA and fine paper I get corns forming which end up putting in course scratches so I reverted to wet sanding. So maybe I need to change my paper.

Question: I sprayed my clear over a base coat with pearl in it. It sagged in a few places. I color sanded and buffed it out, but even though the sags are "gone" , you can still see the sags from certain angles. I'm guessing because the density of the clear in those areas is different so the pearl refracts the light differently. In your opinion, would flow coating fix this or do I need to totally recolor and clear? Thanks for the video! was extremely informative.

How has SAND PAPER improved so wet sanding is no longer necessary?
@TheGunmanChannel8 жыл бұрын
From what I know the old paper used to get clogged up very quickly when dry sanding, I guess a big part of it is that the 2K paints don't clog as much as the old acrylics did so that's probably more a factor than the paper itself.
@tomharrell19548 жыл бұрын
The Gunman Thanks Aussy much appreciate. Like you very. Much. Learning everything. I could. Not understand you at first the Aussy accent. Ha ha After listening closely for a little bit I picked it up no problem. Much appreciate your video work. You're a great mate. Your answer sounds right and makes sense. The clogging is why I go to the water. I use a trickle from a hose. Works well but I'd definitely a pain in the butt.
@TheGunmanChannel8 жыл бұрын
Thomas D Harrell No worries mate, what country are you from out of interest, I am thinking of having my videos translated into a few languages (English included) so more people can benefit, is English your first language and is it just the accent you struggled with or is it English also?
@tomharrell19548 жыл бұрын
The Gunman No mate I did not explain well. English is my native language, but I am from the "south." The "south" is a part of the USA that tried succeed from the Union. The Civil war or War Between the States ensued. This ancient history is relevant because the Rebels from spoke English but in a quite different dialect than the Yanks from The North. So my English is so different from yours it took several videos to acquire your version of English. No worries mate well worth the effort for all the education. I like the Aussies, they seem laid back but able to get things done too. We are similar and different too. Your freedom is good like ours but I like our gun laws better.
@TheGunmanChannel8 жыл бұрын
Thomas D Harrell I must admit I think you guys will be in a better position when shit hits the fan, at least you guys have ways and means to protect yourself. I see what's going on in Europe and they need guns to protect themselves from the Islamic invasion.
