FLOW is a European 2024 animated, adventure, fantasy film directed by Gints Zilbalodis and written by Zilbalodis and Matīss Kaža. It was selected as the Latvian entry for Best International Feature Film at the 97th Academy Awards.
It is a stunning, beautiful and deeply moving film and by far my favorite animated film of this decade.

This animation was created with Blender and it's a free open source software program. So actually making a masterpiece movies didn't need too much money!

Well...the software has gotten cheaper, but the movie still cost $4mil and still required paying people to help get it made. I mean, like the first minute and half of the movie is a listing of all the people and companies he had to go scrounge money from. I do think though that he's not going to have problems getting his next film financed...😊

The story is not about a cat. In this case animals tell a story about humanity better than humans usually do.

WARNING: tears are inevitable This movie is a must see in the theater the big screen and surround sound make this movie even more atmospheric and breathtaking (especially during the "bubble" scene!) this is exactly what the animation industry needed to spark our imaginations. I'm so glad my friends and I saw this together.

If you watch this movie I recommend sticking around a bit longer for credits. After those there's additional scene. It might answer some of your questions, might raise some more questions for you or simply soothe your sad and crying soul.

Reviews keep saying that the animation visuals aren't the most advanced? Does that matter? The visuals are actually perfect for the story. Just because it doesn't show every hair like Pixar doesn't mean that it should. The visuals should match the intent of the story. The movie shows exactly what it needs to show and no more. For those who decide to poop on this film, saying things like "It's boring AF" and such, I ask what kind of film were you expecting to see? Did you even bother to watch the trailer and get a clue of what kind of movie it was intended to be? You certainly can prefer other sorts of movies but if you are going to watch a movie it's best to judge it on its own terms. The trailer gives no hint that there are going to be delightful musical numbers, dance scenes, superheroes, or creatures from outer space. If you are going to decide whether it is better than something else it helps if that something else is a similar kind of thing. I can state without reservation that "The Wizard of Oz" is a lousy film noir crime drama and I certainly wouldn't rank "Citizen Kane" high in the ranks of slapstick comedies, and Bugs Bunny cartoons certainly do not have the most realistic depictions of rabbits and other animals. The trailer should tell you what you need to know before you see a movie. If you are a horror fan don't go into this movie expecting that. That goes for many other kinds of films as well. Take it for what it is supposed to be.

I haven't even seen it yet, and I know you're right, this is THE animated movie of the decade. EVERYTHING about it, from the trailer alone, gives me a sense that his is something special. It'll be the most anticipated movie for me by a LONG shot in 2024.

I just saw Oscar Expert and Brother Bro give a great review of Memoir of a Snail, which they liked better than Wild Robot and now you give this review for Flow. In no way should Inside Out 2 have a chance for best animated feature above those 3 films.

Is so hard to see u can't predict anything but. The end is so sad😢 but thinking 🤔 end way . Imagine they don't talk but only curiosity kills the cat.. and I feel so sad for the lovely seen when the cats have so many life's see their friends departing to another life or quantum history 🎉 wow I end up dying ye couldn't eat . ... "Across the Spiderverse" is an entirely different kind of movie. Saying one is better than the other is like trying to claim pizza is better than ice cream. Quality comparisons only mean anything if they are between similar things.

I would reccomend seeing it first. If it's not for you, then that's okay. As long as you can explain your reasoning. For me it wouldn't be the best in the *decade* because I haven't seen every single animated film in this decade so far, and we haven't completed this decade yet. However I will say that was really good.

@@candicraveingcloude2822i saw the film. It was okay i get that it was more art house and symbolic but I didn't leave feeling that much. It didn't really resonate with me that much. I would love for people to explain more about the bird? It died right? which is why we saw it ascending. Idk i normally analyse and write essays on films however this one left me quite stumped because there are multiple ways to interpret it and none are that meaningful to me... I would love to hear why you like it though
