Thank you! This is the most straight forward answer I have found that helped demistify this. Even the photoshop documentation didn’t explain the airbrush option on or off as well as this.

Colin, buddy I have been using this tool for a while, yes but the way you explained in this tutorial video was fantastic. I learned what are the differences between Opacity and Flow when I used the painting machine to paint the house. One button was the flow and another for the pressure and also how wide or narrow I wanted to paint, however, you give me on this video an even better way of using those settings. Thank you so much -JN

Thanks for this informative video! I’ve used both Flow and Opacity , mostly in a trial and error until I created the desired effects. This will speed up my work flow.

Using/trying flow for a few months. New the technical difference but this vid explains the why. Thanks 👍 I think flow also needs to be at a lot lower percentage relative to what I would normally use for opacity. This I didn’t understand in the beginning and I was getting terrible results.

I always use flow when i am editing and i am still likely continue to use it because it helps changing the intensity of a color faster when editing

I had been using them, but both! On portraits, I had been making another layer, then with a soft bush and opacity and flow low, sampling the colour from the original and painting on the new layer to smooth skin slightly. Your explanation of the differences is very good as I wasn't quite sure but this explains it, and I use a mouse, I did buy a tablet, but have hardly used it, this video makes me want to dig it out and try again Thanks!

Hello Colin I use the flow and strength of the brushes to retouch face in essence. In some cases I use to blur. Although there are more tools. Anyway the guide was interesting. Thank you very much

There are both useful. Photoshop doesn’t provide a magical universal tool. We must lear to use them all appropriately based on the nature of the job. That’s were the magic is, learning to use it as a whole, understanding photoshop ecosystem is revealing! Great video!

Really great explanation! I generally use flow, like you did on the portrait retouch, and then adjust the strength with opacity (because I always go overboard). I think that's probably the best combo!

yes, choose a shade of gray rather than opacity. see my last livestream where i demonstrate this

@@photoshopcafe Thank you for the reply! I could have sworn in a much earlier PS version there was no overlapping of stokes like now with the right use of flow or opacity. Thanks again. Could not find how you demonstrated this, but I think you are saying go 100% at the shade you want. I'll play. Thanks again
