Great comment! "Nupat redzeju..." "Just saw it..." Just reviewed it." Some Americans ruin the English language and others learn from their bad and decades-old outdated language habits and say, "Just seen it."

@riproar11 While i agree its wrong, that's just the illiterate internet comment culture. This was meant to be "I have just seen it" and half the words somehow slipped trough cracks, it seems. Possible headline: Gramatikas policija no Latvijas apcietina Amerikāņus.😄

Afaik it's on all major streaming platforms, Netflix and Apple including, but might be in selected cinemas still on (hit and miss depending on your location). In our home country it's still on in all cinemas and it's definitely worth seeing it on the big screen (+ don't go away before credits have rolled, there is a final scene after them).

I saw 'Flow' with two of my sons in the cinema. We were all stunned! My 10-year-old son who loves cats just kept telling me the movie is awesome as we watched it. The fact it was made in Blender only makes me love it more. I wish it got an Oscar so it gets more attention (as it deserves it). Big theatres are flooded with mediocre or totally worthless crap while such masterpieces get a few screenings in small venues. If there's any good an Oscar is for - this is it! If it receives no Oscar it will only prove the Academy doesn't care about film as an art form. There, I said it.

Superlative imagination without getting lost in visual show-offs, phenomenal accuracy & detail (the animal movements, the water) without getting lost in its own technicalities, teaching deeply human concepts without being didactic, spanning vast emotional range without becoming overblown or manipulative... It is a remarkably subtle, allegoric, universal achievement that transcends cultures, age groups. A, dare one say, very therapeutic film for our very scary and utterly mad times. And, by the way, the music... from the most intimate to the most dramatic, even metaphysical, moments. It is an astonishing achievement and it works because of its humanity - a deeply human story told without a word and without a single human being present.

Aside from the staggering technical skill that went into this, what is deeply admirable is the passion evident in the way Gints Zilbalodis talks about his film, the creative process, and the emotion of the story. The moderator needs to listen to her subject. He clearly states FLOW is based on an early short about his old cat. Then she asks (to abreviate and paraphrase) "So, FLOW is based on your cat, yes?" (this is after interjecting herself about her own cat, in a janky fashion) as if it is a new question, rather than continuing that line of dialog. This is not being an active listener. Which is one the major pre-requisites of being a moderator.

To me, Flow is not "one of the best animations" ever made. It's one of the best films ever made - a masterpiece on par with Bergman, Fellini, Akerman, Coppola, Linklater, Cassavetes, Tarkovsky... a classic for the ages, one of the best films in the history of cinema. It should be nominated for best film.

Gints has suddenly become the most famous Latvian in the world, deservedly so. Beyond the president and all politicians, other composers and gold medalists, he somehow has united the entire world among those who have seen and understood Flow. The world was thirsty for whatever it conveys, and this humble, borderline "autistic" artist is the best ambassador my country could ever have. Thanks for the kind words and mindfullness of spectators as well as dedication of the artists who worked with Gints this time. I suggest all interested to find his chanell, which is still small but have all his previous short films. There you can find the very blueprint for this film he mentioned (Aqua), which he made while still in secondary school. Everything apart from Flow was done by him alone, maybe even subscribe if you like what you see. There is and will be more to see.

Flow is exactly what I wanted out of The Wild Robot but without the predictability, corny jokes, awful pacing, and a mediocre score and soundtrack. I wished that The Wild Robot had no dialogue, and that would have made the film a hundred times better. That is why Flow is much more deserving of the Oscar. It has a lot more heart to it, and the technicalities of it stand out a lot more than The Wild Robot does. The Wild Robot is nothing more than a standard Dreamworks film, and I wished that more people would realize that.
