FLOW : remembering our way to a livable future
10 June 2023
A Community Processional Performance featuring 40+ local artists and creatives in an honoring of waters and an unfolding of human/water relations in downtown O’ga P’ogeh/Santa Fe, NM.
FLOW brought life once again to the Rio Chiquito, now known as Water Street, an important hydrologic feature, an early and much referenced landmark, and a major water source for O'ga P'ogeh/Santa Fe. Flowing from the Garden Spring, the Rio Chiquito entered the Santa Fe River near the Guadalupe Church. Between 1881 and 1943 four dams were constructed in our upper watershed, desiccating the acequias, destroying agriculture and drying the springs. As well as straightening the Santa Fe River to run between concrete walls, draining the cienega to construct parking lots, hotels and garages, importing water from the Colorado and Rio Grande.
FLOW asks: what is our relationship with Water? Awakening us to what was, what is and what can be.
