It's good that this video exists to show what the initial hype around Flowered Up's was about.. FU never quite got their studio sound right until Weekender. For example, you can hear a lot of great basslines here that are totally buried in the studio mixes. The production on Life With Brian was a little too Thrills and Pills (shiny and glossy) when it should have been more Bummed (dirty and chaotic). But the video definitely gives you idea of what that album could have and should have been. Thanks for posting.

Nice observation and you obviously get it. Fact is the original idea was that our original live sound engineer was being groomed to be a co producer for studio recording with the band. He remixed the Heavenly release of It's On. Phil Payne(Feel pain mix). Unfortunately he was an early casualty of ego and distrust. The whole album recording experience was wrong and it can be heard.

Wow! Can’t believe I’ve not seen this on here sooner! I couldn’t always get inside to FU gigs as I was around 15 and sometimes got refused entry 😂 But I can really feel the intensity, vibe and mayhem through this video that I experienced,to the point It made the hairs on my arms tingle with nostalgia, got a bit emosh if I’m being honest. Got a feeling I’ll be watching this loads. Gotta love Bazza, totally bonkers but it just works so well. One of London’s finest and criminally underrated because of it and not from the NW.

All round, this was the best Flowered Up show of them all, the Astoria. Such an amazing venue (criminal it was torn down) for both artists and audiences, supreme sound, as all of those old theatres provided, perfect size that retained the intimacy for that unique shared emotion of audience and artist. It became our 'standard' aim of achievement for a live show.

It's Anna Haigh who sang Raise a track by Boca Juniors (Farley & Weatherall) Flowered Up liked that track so asked her to do backing vocals for Egg Rush. I do get your Saffron comment though....

It was after seeing Stone Roses at Dingwalls in Camden that we formed FU, Liam and myself. May '89. We had seen the Mondays there either just before that or just after. Both were gigs to launch their respective, classic albums. We went to gigs all the time, all over the place from pubs to Wembley Stadium and all between. The Roses that night were off the fucking scale and for me, I doubt it'll ever be topped.
