do you have to use a whole Oasis block or would a half block suffice?
@FlowerJoos3 жыл бұрын
You could use either - if it is a big single ended i would use a full block - but smaller versions two thirds or half would be ok. It is a balance between a sufficient water source, not having it too physically heavy and not having more foam than you need to cover with foliage. 😀🌼

Lovely as always. It's funny that what you call "French Ruscus" we call "Italian Ruscus" here in the US
@FlowerJoos7 жыл бұрын
Henry Stollard it is amazing how flowers and foliage have different names across the world! I am always amazed that everything is a “spray” - from a corsage, to a bouquet to a funeral item. 😀
@henrycronisterjr83307 жыл бұрын
Flower Joos, I worked in Abu Dhabi at Rocco Forte Hotel, and it took me a year to re-learn the names of flowers and foliage that I'd known and been using for most of my career - especially tropicals. Unfortunately we don't have much opportunity to use tropicals in central Illinois, USA as they're quite expensive. In Abu Dhabi and Dubai however, they're as common as daisies. The Middle East is far mor impressed with Delphinium and Snap Dragons! Cultures and cost are an interesting mix when compared to one another from across the globe. I really do enjoy learning from your Flower aesthetic. So thankful that you share your skills with us.
@FlowerJoos7 жыл бұрын
Henry Stollard that is great to hear - and it shows that with floristry you can travel the world if you like. Flowers are everywhere - but maybe with a slightly different name 😀

Tatiana Selicka this is a style of flower arrangement that is very popular here for funerals but the style is good for hanging on walls, gates or arches for wedding work, so it’s a good one to know.

Very informative. How would you estimate how many flowers to buy for these large arrangements?
@FlowerJoos6 жыл бұрын
michelle.makoni it becomes easier with time and the more you do. It is good to have a basic standard contents for items such as this - so maybe 7 large roses, 12 standard carnations, 2 Lily’s, 3 chrysanths and something as a filler. But this can vary depending on what you have available.

Beautiful, just beautiful. If i could make one comment? I have to wonder if you're prone to using your left hand for other things or were you pushed into using your right hand even though you were born left handed? As silly as this seems I've noticed that without fail you tend to leave a blank space about half way down on the right side as you face the arrangement. I've seen almost all your arrangement and they all are just lovely. You make everything look so easy. Thank-you now I'm going to try. No criticism intended just curious. I'll bet you wouldn't guess I'm an American. lol
@FlowerJoos6 жыл бұрын
betty sanborn lol - that’s ok! You have me thinking now! I always thought I was right handed but am going to have a go more with the left hand. I never noticed this so it’s good you pointed it out. For tied bouquets I can work them in a few different ways depending on how I feel or on the content - maybe the ideal is to be both tight and left handed! Thank you for watching and the lovely comments 🙋🏼♂️
