I was introduced to this film WAY to young. I’m 25 today, though I truly feel I’ve lived through the good ole days. Due to my love and knowledge for cult classics. I think I started watching this in 2001 when I was either 4 or 5. I remember watching the Hollow Man, the Fly, Child’s play, IT, Flowers In the attic, Duel, Sleepstalker, around that age.

Same here, I was about 5 or so when I watched it, and lone too...eek. I just recently watched it and as emotionless as I typically am to modern day horror, gory, scary movies...I realized that I shouldn't have seen this movie at that age. The psychological torture of the kids, by their own family, the abandonment from their mother, and the death of the mother is quite intense and quite brilliant too...just not the best to watch so young.

I was reading her books in the mid 80s. Became my favorite author. RIP. Her ghost writer was pretty good but you could see the difference in writing. The movies never did justice to the books imo. Very cool you did this, kinda surprised me. 🖤🖤

Thank you for doing a homage to the film! I’m a longtime fan of V.C. Andrews. My favorite series has always been the Dollanganger family series but my favorite book is ‘Garden of Shadows’ which is actually the story of the Grandmother in ‘Flowers in the Attic.’ The book was written mostly by V.C. Andrews’ ghostwriter as she’d started on it shortly before she passed away. I first read it when I was about 13 and have read the series several times over the years…. ‘Garden of Shadows’ pretty much explains why the Grandmother was so bitter! No one could’ve played that Grandmother better than Louise Fletcher though! She was brilliant. It was those very stories, along with reading Stephen King, that inspired me to become a writer and I always wondered where they filmed ‘Flowers in The Attic’. Thanks for another great video! 🌹

Hi Michael and Jessica! - Great video on Flowers in the Attic! The Name of the house in Massachusetts is called " Cranes Castle" in Ipswich MA. This Mansion is not far at all from Salem MA. This was a summer estate built by the Crane plumbing family from Chicago. Cranes Castle was also the house in the movie "Witches of Eastwick" . Ironically the developer for Beverly Hills named the area after Beverly Farms in Massachusetts. Ipswich is not far from Beverly. I think a sign for Beverly shows up in the Movie "Manchester By the Sea". Manchester by the Sea is a about a guy that is a Trustee that lives in a brick building in Quincy MA. that drives up Route 128 to do something he is going to have regrets about! Isn't Greystone in "All of Me" with Steve Martin and Lilly Tomlin?

I'm so glad you did this! If you haven't already, check out Flowers87 here on youtube, he works at the Crane estate part-time and has videos of the house and grounds. While I don't particularly like the ending where the mother dies (which was filmed and added much later, and by a different director), I will always love the movie. It has such wonderful acting and atmosphere, and the music was phenomenal. It really is great how they were able to blend so many locations and sets together for Foxworth Hall.
