Great video. What are your recommendations for keeping the floral Arrangement last longer. Thank you.
@FlowerSchool3 жыл бұрын
That's an excellent question, Brenda! It really starts with how flower care and handling or how you process the flowers when you first get them. It's important to hydrate the flowers well using clean water and flower food and let them sit so they can drink for a period of time. When flowers are fully hydrated, it helps them stay fresh and beautiful for your designs. Some flowers like roses and hydrangeas want additional steps to help them hydrate. Leanne has shared some excellent care and handling videos - here's one on hydrangeas: kzbin.info/www/bejne/p6qwio2JiNGkl9U and another one on roses: kzbin.info/www/bejne/l5jNhJmYmZySm7M Quick Dip is a rapid hydrator that also helps flowers drink well too. We hope all of this information helps! Thanks so much for watching our show today and we look forward to seeing you very soon. Best wishes and happy designing to you!

As the recipient of a bouquet last week, I can see the difference in quality of what you and your instructors do vs. the bouquet I received. There was foliage under water. The stems looked soggy and decaying upon entrance to my home. The bouquet was NOT adequately insulated against the cold (in the teens and twenties (F)) It was already starting to droop when I brought it inside. The stems were not anywhere near the same length, most didn't reach to the bottom and many were above the cloudy waterline the next morning. (It came late in the afternoon) There was no flower food to change the water with. No ribbon, just flowers stuck in a clear $2.00 rose vase. I'm not a florist, but I do study flowers for my clay flower business...if I had sent this bouquet out, I would have been ashamed to have my business name on it...I loved the colors, pink, lavender and white...but still, this was to celebrate my husband's life...Thank you for teaching STANDARDS! Thank you for teaching QUALITY. Thank you for CARING about what you do. Blessings!

This is one of the most heartfelt posts we have ever received, Christie, and we are so honored and touched that you shared it with us. We are also very sorry that you received a bouquet that was subpar. Sometimes it happens, but as you point out, there is really no reason or excuse for it, especially when it is meant to celebrate the life of someone you have loved. A floral design is so much more than a product. It is a demonstration of heart, skill, expertise, and love, and it's also a service of tremendous value. That's why it is so important to make it beautiful and deliver it right. We deeply appreciate you understanding the importance of teaching the right way, the best way to create floral designs and we are so grateful for your support for what we do. We are also here to help in any way we can and hope that you will reach out if you need any assistance at all. Please accept our condolences and please do take care. Thank you very much for taking the time to write to us today and for watching our shows too. All the best to you.

@@FlowerSchool Thank you! As I continue to watch you and learn, I see the difference between quality and 'just get-er done and out the door' styles of work. The differences are amazing. Maybe someday I can further my education in flowers professionally, but in the meantime, I am so grateful for this channel! Thank you also for the condolences on the loss of my husband. It was somewhat expected, he had had strokes in the past, but you always think, we're going to dodge this again, and sometimes, there is no dodging it...we had 28 years, 6 months, 14 days together as man and wife. I am grateful. I believe we'll be together again when things are made new. I also believe that will be a place where flowers never die, and I will have them to my heart's content! If you are learning, can you use silks so you can keep using them?
@FlowerSchool3 жыл бұрын
That's one possibility, Violet! It's also important to use real flowers and foliage because they will behave differently than silks will and you need to experience that. Silks can help you grasp the concepts, but then you need to try them out on real flowers to know what to expect when you are designing. You can take things apart and reuse your flowers when you are practicing. Thank you so much for stopping by to watch our show and we look forward to seeing you again soon. Wishing you a marvelous week in all that you do!

Thanks so much for this hand tie! When the binding point gets so big how do you continue to hold it without stems slipping out? Also when you add so many of type of bloom such as the roses in one place does that not make the design not rose heavy in one place. I struggle with not ‘controlling’ it and so thought I had to space stems out across my design to keep it balanced. What would are the key no nos for hand ties do you think when learning? Thanks so much for your videos- I have learnt so much - love Claire (Hertfordshire, UK)
@FlowerSchool3 жыл бұрын
These are excellent questions, Claire! Thank you for posing them and for watching our show. If the design gets too large for your hand (and sometimes it does), you can tie it off with a bit of bind wire and then continue adding blooms to it. As for adding more than one rose or type of flower in one place, that actually adds emphasis and interest to the design and concentrates the color as well. The key is to do this in more than one spot in the bouquet for balance. In terms of hand-ties, the best way to get better at making them is to practice over and over. You can always take the bouquet apart and create it again. The spiral method that Leanne demonstrates is the best way to go in terms of designing a beautiful bouquet. We are so happy you joined us today and we hope to see you very soon. Let us know how it goes for you and please reach out if you need some help. Wishing you a fabulous weekend and all the best to you!
