Hi everyone! Let me know what you think about Flowify in the comments below! :)

Now this is the tool that I've imagined when it comes to modelling everything.

So happy this is in Blender. yers ago I used '3D sticker' and 'lw brush' in Lightwave, and never saw anything close until 'Tissue' in Blender, but this seems just perfect !

Very Nice Tool, its very similar to the Tissue addon for Blender. I would argue Tissue is probably a little better but I will also pick this up. Thanks for the overview!

I've not done a ton with Tissue, but it seems that it's more for repeating objects across individual faces? Looks super powerful though, I should do a video on that one as well

Some things I wonder is will it fit to not same size objects? You used objects the same size as the original and wondered if it would scale to fit. Also, if you make the original not to be rendered will we have control over the projected mesh and that will render? It seems like you need the original and object close to each other and would need to apply the modifier so the original could be deleted or hidden. I was wondering if keeping the modifier would be practical so the projected would be an instance and less geometry if used multiple times but then the ability to hide the original would be a must. If that makes sense? Thanks for the video!

Didn't think about the potential with using animations on this. Interesting
@TheCGEssentials11 ай бұрын
Yeah I was just playing around with it and realized there are actually some REALLY interesting possibilities there

Looks like a great addon. I must check it out. Many cheers from Nova Scotia....

used this in sketchup before. it would be great if it mapped to vertices instead of corners. it is limited by this. if you could map the source geometry to vertices on the target so that the source altered size and shape based on the target vertix location it would open up alot of possibilities. what if the target has no corners? what if you want to lay a script character on a surface? how can you do this with this addon? seems conform object has a few features over this
@TheCGEssentials11 ай бұрын
I'm not sure how this would work - this particular add on uses a target surface with 4 corners with a flat object with 4 corners, and uses the two objects to map a deformation of a base object. Without the 4 cornered shape, there's nothing for the object to reference to. I wouldn't necessarily say that Conform Object has anything OVER Flowify (or vice versa), they're just two different approaches for deforming meshes. This one is more...precise (at least to me), but in the situation you're describing, I'd say Conform Object is a better fit

Hey Jason! been watching your channel for a few months now, let me say without your channel I would be nowhere where I am today. I have a queston about flowify, I have a bended rectangle on which neither four points measure the same to connect to the connecting lines and it doesn't work. Any ideas? I am super stuck on this and haven't found an example in a tutorial with a similar situation.

The more the geometry extrudes out, the more it seems to fan out, creating these wedge-shapes. Is there a way to align them towards a curved surface while maintaining the shape of the projected object? Hope that makes sense.
@Bassquake7611 ай бұрын
Was wondering that too. Having the ability to maintain the objects ratio would be useful.
@TheCGEssentials11 ай бұрын
I'm not sure how that would work - you HAVE to split the shape up and project it along the surface so there's always going to be a level of deformation

Random question... Blender 4 isn't opening a file I've been working on for about 2 years... but Blender 3.5 opens the file with no issue... only tried on my PC so far... the file is quite heavy but I'm not sure if it's a Blender issue or PC issue... Edit: the file in question actually was opened before in Blender 4, then on the next day it stopped working and I tried to go back to Blender 3.5 and the file worked... but most addons I use have been updated and some don't work with 3.5 anymore.

Good implementation, but having to have 4 corners makes it a no go for me

i cant get models to stay on the grid and cant get grid to wrap on model

I guess it uses UV? It was possible long ago using Sverchok addon btw. Still looks nice.

Not saying that's not a powerful tool, because it is, but that tool requires a LOT of detailed knowledge and math to get a desired result. This one you just...click a button - not really the same in my opinion

is there any possibility to find curvature change and subdivide only those faces. or use bevel modifier and use curvature as attribute for bevel weight with some threshold of angle.
@TheCGEssentials11 ай бұрын
I don't know. I'm also not sure what it does if you have uneven subdivisions on your mesh (like if your target mesh has non uniform, mode detailed geometry in the middle or something). In any case, I think the subdivision is something that happens outside Flowify
@IrocZIV11 ай бұрын
So do you need to start with a base plane, or can you just add one to the geometry you are working with after?
@TheCGEssentials11 ай бұрын
I think you can add one after. You reference the plane in the geometry node setup, so you can even use a different plane if you want.

Is it possible to stretch an object around a cylinder? Or, for example, tie clothes to a human model.
@TheCGEssentials11 ай бұрын
...sort of. Because the target object has to have 4 corners, you'd probably need to add just a tiny little split to the faces on the cylinder, so that then you're more dealing with a bent rectangular shape. I'm not sure this or Conform Object are quite the solution you're looking for for clothes though.
@TheCGEssentials11 ай бұрын
Though for adding accessories, decorations, etc to the clothes, Conform Object would be good I think
