Just a simple muffler swap on my 24 Trailboss 5.3. Flapper valve and muffler off. Cats and resonators still on. The Outlaw muffler is barely a muffler, as it’s nearly straight pipe. However, it still only increased the exhaust level from a 1 out of 10 to maybe a 5 out of 10. If you want loudness that will turn heads, this isn’t it. There is only a slight note increase in the cab with the windows up. Outside of the cab you can notice an increase and it sounds pretty good, though can be raspy and pop when revved high and quickly let off.
I had straight pipe on my 2015 5.3 and it was maybe 8 out of 10 on the loud scale. Also sounded pretty throaty and good. Didn’t want that loud this time, as the drone in the truck was pretty loud at highway speeds. This muffler is a tad lower sound output than I expected, but not by much. To me, this is how the truck should sound from the factory lol. The only way to get louder seems to be straight pipe and/or remove cats. And I’m still under factory warranty, so that’s a no go.
I paid $120 for the muffler and $80 for install since I don’t have a welder.
