A little story about this song, my wife is mandarin and loves karaoke.before covid we would get together with 2 or 3 other couples who were also American and Mandarin. At that time her English was not very good. We decided it would be cool if i taught her an English song and surprise our friends next karaoke party. We practiced all week, her learning a song by Karen Carpenter , they long to be , towards the end of the week we were practicing and stopped for a minute and she suggested that I learn a song in mandarin, pinyin, so she chose this song, i have taken classes and listened well enough to pronounce words correctly. That being said, I can’t carry a tune is a bucket , and it’s humorous when doing karaoke at home , so the night comes and I announce we have a surprise, my wife sings , beautifully i might add , everyone was amazed, when she was done, she said we have another surprise and i , dont know if you would call it singing, but everyone gave me a sitting ovation and commented on how well i did ,, now , few years later i bust out the machine and make sure doors and windows are closed

I'm French born Chinese and I'm not from her generation, yet I've been growing up with this song. When I was kid my dad had a Chinese restaurant, and he used to play her songs. Surprisingly, I remembered this melody years later after hearing it through a Chinese music app during my first travel in China. At that time I also met a very special person and this song is intimately associated with her. She told me her dad was fan of her, just like my dad. During Christmas, she sang this song and it literally made me fell in love with her a second time. I secretly hoped I would play this song for our wedding. Even if we aren't together today, this song and its memories will remain safe in my heart.

The thing is Teresa rose from extreme poverty to become the biggest Asian pop diva is something to really admire. There was a time when her family had to struggle for a bowl of rice. Her parents didn't had enough money to send her to schools so she had to become part time singer in order to pay her school fees and also to feed her families. For this reason, she was often absent from school which later annoyed her principle and he told her to either chose school or music. Considering the family's economic situation, Teresa chosed second and quitted the school. Since then she became full time singer and her career began to climb up gradually. Later, she used her hard earned money to send her brothers to study in US. Many people have no idea how much Lijun has done for her family and society. She was a sole bread winner for her family for much of her life. This is what her mother said. A total respect to this great woman! 🙏

I can't find any brazilian in here, but I'm from Brazil and I used to listen to this music every time my ballet teacher made a different class. I was a kid, and i loved singing to this song. For a long time I couldn't find it, but now that I did, I'm crying. This music made part of my childhood, and I'm grateful that I had the chance to listen to this incomparable voice. I hope that she is on a better place now ❤️

I am from Ethiopia. I first listened to this music in the classroom. My Chinese teacher gave us the poem and we rehearsed it. Lastly we try to play together with her video (the player). I love this music, it is beautiful, peaceful, trusting, and very warm…! I cannot describe how much I'm in love with this song, it is one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard in China. It’s just a love story! It is just breathtaking even though my understanding is low. The lyrics are one of the most beautiful voices I have ever heard. I can't stop listening to this song. I have to agree with Original Fan and the sentiments that are expressed there about the beautiful Teresa Teng. You can make it 1 Billion and 1 fans who love her music. I fell in love with her and especially this song just last year, February 12013. I was so overwhelmed by her that I played the song over and over again, until I could play it on my guitar, still can't sing it fully yet. I came close to tears when I found out that she had passed away. As the Original Fan stated, she is indeed one of God's Angels, not only in voice but, in body and in spirit. I have never met the lady but I know that she was a good person. This comes through when she sings. In every other video that I have seen of her, this goodness that is Teresa Teng comes shining through. May our God keep her in his warm embrace.

This song strongly reminds me of a chinese guy who I really loved from the bottom of my heart. We were on a trip in Germany, this song was played by an artist at the streets in Frankfurt on the new year's evening, and then he told me how iconic and amazing Teresa was, and from that moment on, I can't listen to this song without crying. We couldn't be together at that time, and eventually time passed by and all I got are the memories and this song! Wherever in the world he is, I still miss him so much. The most adored and most revered person in Chinese civilisation since time immemorial. Her talent? If you watch her or listen to her long enough, you will know. The pleasure she gives in her singing is like that of a drug or alcohol - but many times more pleasing. You will be totally surprised that a person with such a voice can exist at all. You will conclude like her more than 1 billion fans that she cannot be anything else but an angel. And this is just her voice we are talking about - not even her person as a whole. That is another great thing about this gentle woman that most people are unaware of. Her brother says her sister is the ideal Chinese woman. Can you imagine your own brother (if you are a woman) saying this about you? And Teresa's best friend ( a famous Taiwanese actress) says in public, "If my boyfriend falls in love with Teresa and went with her, I would not mind." Viva Teresa.

Yes, you are right. The fundamentals of life never change - truth, sincerity, honesty, authenticity, connection, values and universality - whatever age you are and whatever time it may be, you will recognise these and connect with these because these things are unchangeable. I began listening to Teresa in my mothers womb, and was there at the height of her success. In the late 70's, after the cultural revolution, you cannot grasp the magnitude of Ms Teng's popularity. Remember one afternoon, I went to one neighbour after another in Shanghai, Teresa's music was playing everywhere. Later, my father took me to the department store her music was playing in the back ground. We went out side afterward, someone with a boom box riding his bicycle playing her music. Now i'm almost 40 years old, still listen this is beyond a drug, much more as if god is vicariously speaking through her. She has affected many generations and many more....

Teresa Teng was a phenomenon in Asia especially in Taiwan, Malaysia, Singapore and Japan. And when China started opening up to the modern world under Deng Xiao Peng, Teresa Teng's tide just flow into the developing China. It became so significant how the 2 personalities of the same family name rules over China. Deng rules by day while Teng rules by night. Nevertheless, Teresa Teng never stepped her feet in China. She was brought up in strong family tradition that aligned strongly to the arm forces of the Republic of China.

There are many other songs of Teresa Teng as good as this one. I recommend listening to ocean rhythm, east mountain rainy, how much sorrow, the love i want tonight, the moon comes to see me, who now knows my feelings, loving words, hometown folks, biarlah sendiri, light breeze, legend of the wind, when will we meet again. They are all different songs highlighting different emotions but they are all amazing and highly underrated.
