@Honesty First please read regarding unclaimed checks. After 90 days, the company that issued the check needs to start the abandonment process. Usually, the vendor (company paying floyd) would reach out to floyd prior to 90 days to cash the check or there have to reissue the check. If floyd isn't responsive on what action he wants; then after the 90, the abandonment process starts. The check will be considered unclaimed property/asset for the state or department. Of revenue and they will act as the custodian with the funds. The purpose is so the money owed to the receivable will always have funds waiting to cover the balance for the check. To illustrate the purpose, if the company that issued the check shuts down/no longer in business/has a weak cash cycle years later, and floyd finally wants to cash this check, then this check could bounce.
