@Alexander-gj9ms

Thunder is the sound caused by the electrical discharge you moron! But the fact that we think they are two different things is a relic of our ignorant history. For example way back when we didn't know shit, the ancient Greeks thought that lighting was a weapon of Zeus and thunder bolts were created by Athena.... So you can choose to continue the ignorance if you like. But that will make you the ignoramus! But then of course you might say "I'm not an ignoramus, it's just the sound!"

Nitro RCNerds I remember this distinctly when it happened and of course with hindsight we can see what Roy Jones said about "how could anyone not see this coming from the difference in hand speed" but I really thought Mayweather was just talking big when he closed the interview with "imma punish you" cuz I really believed that about Mayweather never tasting power like Gatti's But man, he didn't punish Gatti, he embarrassed him. The one actual knockdown wasn't a "real" knockdown, it was legit by the rules but was mental lapse. and so round 1 is 10-8 and as the fight when on it became ever more difficult to give Gatti even 9-10 round rather than 10-8 Mayweather without a knockdown. Most one sided PPV title fight I ever saw aside from a Tyson-Spinks style 1st round KO
@JParks1981
@JParks1981 7 жыл бұрын
Tyler Hingleton yeah I think you misunderstood what I said, or maybe I left out a word that made it possible to take it out of context. To state it more clearly and leave no doubt, Floyd promised that he would punish Gatti, and he didn't JUST punish Gatti, he absolutely shamed Gatti and made Gatti look every bit the C+ fighter. So yeah, what I meant 100% clear is that I really thought Gatti's power would play SOME role in the fight because he'd always been such a warrior and had such a reputation for never giving up etc and his stock was high then after the Ward trilogy and having a piece of the title, and at no point was Gatti ever in this fight. We'd seen Gatti bloody, we'd seen Gatti out-classed when he stepped up to fight Oscar, but I don't think we'd ever seen Gatti embarrassed to that degree.

Bulos Mac Either you're blind or you don't fully understand boxing. If we go by your logic then Gatti would've been winning while getting his ass beat. Mayweather was beating that man the whole time, stayed in control of the fight, and in order for that to happen you must possess power along with everything else to win.

Gets too much stick imo. People forget boxing's also an entertainment business, in which Floyd's capitalised on and always backed up his talk. Casuals will slate his style of fighting but he's adapted over the years to compensate for his loss of power due to having injured hands. Hopefully gets the respect he deserves now he's retired.

Gatti disliked Floyd so much he requested separate pre-fight weigh-ins and pre-fight press conference. A first for the sport. In true Mayweather style, Floyd crashed Gattis party, took over questioning and Gatti stormed out of his own requested press conference. This Fight was over before it started. sidenote years after Mayweather paid for gatti's funeral and expenses when he sadly died.

It`s easy to talk crazy about a guy that everyone knew was "skill wise" a "C" class fighter! However it it came to fighting top fighters in there prime like Cotto, Williams, and some of the other big welterweights of the era he retires? No disrespect to Gatti but he lost that fight when he signed the contract.

@themoneybank
@themoneybank 8 жыл бұрын
+soxfan73 i understand everything you've said, without being romantic, we haven't really seen a Floyd before, he really means Prize Fighter, its hard to pick mistakes and his timing of bouts (from a business perspective) however to speculate we missed amazing hypotheticals is exactly that, hypotheticals, and i mean really, have we ever seen him taken to the hole? Not even close, he is a very very good boxer.... thoughts?
@winycityfightfan
@winycityfightfan 8 жыл бұрын
Nobody doubts how good a boxer Floyd is but I believe your premise is wrong on "Hypotheticals" because in my opinion a hypothetical would be if Sugar Ray Robinson fought Floyd mayweather "Who would win"? In this case Mayweather vs Cotto or Williams or Margarito or even a younger Shane could`ve been made however Floyd had struggled for so long to get the fame he wanted and when Oscar finally gave him the fight that would put him on the Boxing "A list" he thought to himself I dont have to fight these big tough 147`s if i dont have to.So he retired and fought the 135 lb champ Marquez. I dont see that as a "risky" move but maybe you thought a counter-punching lightweight would have been a really hard test for Floyd. In any event If you`re a fan of Floyds`s or considered his fights "exciting" that`s your opinion. I just feel he never stretched himself to give the true fight fan a really great fight. But that`s just my opinion. "I`m sure nobody else feels the same way I feel".

Floyd had to build that fight with Conor. It wasn't prudent for Floyd to verbally take McGregor apart. I truly think that Floyd could have laid waste to Conor if he really wanted to. There was so much that Floyd could have said. You see, Floyd understands the art of war. He understands how to build a fight. He learned about the finer points of promotion from the WWE. And he knows that you have to build up your competition if you want people to watch your product. So, while I official scored the press conferences 2-2, I thought Floyd won because he accomplish his goal--which was to sell Conor as a legitimate opponent. Also what Floyd was saying about Conor appeared to rattle him, as he constantly kept interrupting Floyd. Honestly, Floyd is revelation. He is different from your average athlete. He thinking man who strategically stays many steps ahead of all of his opponents. For him, it is not about winning the battle early, but rather it is about winning the war in the end. This is why he is so successful in the both in & out of ring. When it came to the world tour, while Conor stood as the crowd favorite at every stop, Floyd faced an onslaught of hatred and he was still able to thrive. This is what makes Floyd so impressive to me. He is easily one of the most remarkable human beings I have ever seen. He is like a crossbreed of Sun Tzu, Bruce Lee, Bobby Fischer, Gordon Gekko, Tupac Shakur, Winston Churchill & Frank Lucas. Conversely, Conor McGregor is a dime a dozen. He is a fairly talented guy who got catapulted to the top of the sports world by ripping off a self-promotional blueprint that Floyd had mastered for almost 2 decades. Truly, I don't think that I will ever see another Floyd Mayweather in my lifetime. He is a man who remained relevant across 3 different decades, broke all the records, beat everyone put in front of him, was on top for his entire pro career, reset the bar for what was possible, and walked away from the most brutal sport on Earth with his health and money still in tact (all the while making it look so easy). How is it that Floyd, a man who is 40 years of age, is still the biggest sports attraction in the world while in retirement? How unbelievably special is this? All in all, Floyd has transcended boxing, and he continues to inspire athletes both inside and outside of his sport. #TBE #50-0 #YEAHHHHHH

@@joelates5334 I agree with most of what you're saying but I don't think it makes sense when people say Conor ripped off anyone else. If I go and rip off Da Vinci's style I wouldn't be able to do what he did. Those aren't my talents. McGregor is a charismatic dude. He has some natural similarities with Mayweather. Sure you can get inspiration from others who have walked the path before you, but that doesn't mean you're literally walking in the indentations of their footsteps. If McGregor had never heard of Mayweather he'd still be a good orator and shit-talker. He has that talent, and observing other people who are great at what you're talented at makes you better, but it's not ripping them off. You can't fake something you don't have. That said, McGregor doesn't compare to Floyd in other areas, particularly those you mentioned. Maybe if McGregor wasn't a cokehead with a constant erection over his own importance he'd be different. But he's enjoying too much acceptance. I think Connor is pretty smart and could be like an MMA Mayweather, but the circumstances of his life just aren't bringing those traits out of him enough. His lifestyle is more geared towards the things that destroy him. Imagine if Mayweather were white and Irish, so loved by the majority of the US. Would he have been able to be as successful as he was in the second half of his twenties with all that fame, ass kissing, special treatment and acceptance? Might've gone to his head too. Floyd was resented by the majority of the boxing world outside of the black community. I can see that keeping him grounded and working in his favor to some extent(though still morally wrong and unfair).

Classic PBF cherry picking! Arturo was already a fan favorite for all the wars he gave us. Floyd was giving, excuse my cliche but is seems appropriate, a virtuoso performance then he fucked it up with, what is his now signature punch, a sucker punch. There was NO NEED for the cheap shot! Mayweather had that fight, but then displayed classless sportmanship. Floyd beats Gatti on any day of their careers, we all know that. Gatti never had a chance to pull a W, but he wanted to give a good fight. PBF messed it up with that sucker punch.

I remember watching live. Man I feel old. Respect to mayweather, after the fight he said Gatti was a great fighter and that any trash talk he said about Gatti was only to hype the fight. All respect.

Remind me of Bruce lee. When he was humble then people start talking trash about his style of fighting. Then after that he start standing his ground. You have to know who you are and not be scared to show it cause because want to break you always mentally. Mayweather just believes in his skill like no other 🙏

130, 135, 140 floyd was a beast... the greatest of all time PERIOD.... for this match cotto, Mosley and Hatton sat ringside, none wanted smoke. 147 money may later and they all wanted a piece of the mayweather cheque calling him out as if floyd was scared to fight. Respect the legend
