I worked on that very F-111A that was shown at the beginning and the one on display at Shaw AFB, when I was stationed at RAF Upper Heyford in '81-'84. The swept wings weren't the only technology taken from the F-111

We had a little Shack we worked out of near a hanger and side gate, near where they did the filming for Octopussy. That was interesting. Played a lot of cards then waiting on the return of the aircraft 😁 Yea, me too.

In the mid-'80s I was working at the Albuquerque airport. Most of my time there was spent on the parking aprons adjacent to the runways as a construction inspector. The airport shares an airfield with Kirtland AFB. The Air Force brought in a B-1B for high altitude and EMF testing. (Kirtland AFB has a special facility for EMF testing and the airfield is roughly 1 mile high in elevation.) On it's last day there, I watched from near the runway as the B-1 pilot did a series of about 6 touch and go maneuvers. On the last pass, the pilot hit the afterburners and took the plane nearly vertical until it disappeared from sight. It was amazing to see such a large aircraft do that kind of aerobatics.
