How obout Mitsubishi X-2 (Japan)? This aircraft is build for technology test so not fighter, but use vector control system.

Sweden is also able to build such jets, look at the SAAB JAS Gripen.

Thrust vectoring wasn't really designed for dog fights. it was mainly used for high altitude maneuvers where the plane's flight surfaces have less effect due to less air molecules to work with. Trying to dog fight against fighters with modern missiles is suicidal.

@Julian from my knowledge 2D vectoring only allow the thruster to move up and down, don't really know much about 3D tho so i'm not gonna assume without knowing

@user-ig3sp2jw7t Yep. 2D Vectoring actually allows the plane to roll and change pitch/attack angles like a rocket. 3D vectoring allows your Mig to enter a flat spin like a retard. there is no real advantage to 3D vectoring. if you consider the physics and geometry of the body of the plane itself. because your largest control surfaces are your wings. but if you angle your thrust vector Horizontally your plane's tail will have to do a lot of work.

@user-ig3sp2jw7t Also imagine how a pilot operates his plane when a pilot wants to bank (turn) they often Roll and pitch . essentially they are turning the plane by pitching up and down on a turn.

@Julian with 3d vectoring maneuvering 10x better . It's like upgrading a car for drifting on high speeds. Also is used to keep jet at 0 speed , pretty much freeze it in the air like helicopter.

Interesting video. What I'd like to see from either vertical take off or landing is the transition from vertical and horizontal movement.

Only the harrier has done that multiple times from vertical take off to forward transition, I've never seen the f35 do that but it has transitioned from hover to forward

The quality and quantity of weapons is a reflextion of a country's economy. The USA has 24% of the worlds economy!! The USA can spend tons on money on a weapon system then reap the technology with the military, NASA, etc., later into consumer products. These technologies benefited the entire country. Integrated circuits is a good example, in 1966 a devide by ten counter purchased by Lockeed cost $500 each "IF" you purchase a minmum of 500 chips ($25K)!! That sort of money enabled the chip industry to improve products providing jobs, bring the cost of manurefacturing, etc. The spending by the government (in part) helped get the micro-processors we have today as advanced as they are. There are electronic retail stores where one can buy an Intel microprocessor (30M transistors) for $1,000. That initial spending increased the US's ability to advance its society, not just in semiconductors but, far more than not getting involved in the economy.

I believe more that only the US is and has been capable of building such a high-tech stealth plane, Russia does make planes, but conventional ones, and China lives off the theft of technology, but it is still very far from this technology, remember that the US tried Their first stealth planes in 1989 during the invasion of Panama, and they entered without problems and in the IRAQ war in the same way, they have only shot down a single stealth plane and it was due to the pilot's forgetfulness that he forgot to close the hatch

I flew yes not a fighter, my job was to defend the troops on the ground when called upon. We owned the air and it was a cakewalk after the original small invasion took out vitals.

The Soviets may of claimed to have made the first ones with the Fulcrum or flanker but did they get the idea of thrust vectoring from from the flying bedstead that Rolls-Royce designed for jet powered VTOL as the UK invented jet powered VTOL with the Harrier jump jet ? They also copied the P.1154 Hawker Siddeley supersonic engine which is what the F35B uses today and realised that the nozzle on the afterburners could direct the thrust! The British could easily build this but a tight arsed government wouldn’t fund it

Unmanned aerial vehicles with advanced sensor technology and AI systems are capable of performing maneuvers that no human could endure, and do it at a lower cost and with greater capabilities.
