I really wanna see more stuff like this. We spent 20 years trying to digitally recreate stuff we already have. I really want to see what is possible with digital creating new stuff not possible with analogue amps.

Would be cool to have a basically "build your own amp" plugin, which would have a variety of modelled electrical components that you can swap around and tweak all the sizes etc. Of course within reason, as building an amp circuit from scratch is not for the faint of heart :D Maybe something like: 1) select how many preamp tuibes, 2) select what type they are, 3) rearrange the gain stages however you like (since it's digital), even to something crazy like preamp -> tube -> preamp -> tube -> preamp -> tube -> EQ -> tube -> filter -> EQ -> tube, or something similar that you can freely do and play around with to create unique stuff that wouldn't make sense in physical amps. Maybe also create custom circuits with modelled op-amps etc.

@@VortechBandheck out Otto‘s Eleven Eleven or I I I I, You can change between three different tubes, the impedance curve, of course your normal amp settings and a few wildly different sounding IR‘s (or turn them off and use your own, although you can only do this in a DAW AFAIK, since you can‘t load your own IR‘s into the amp sim itself) But you still can get a ton of different sounds from clean to modern metal, rock or even good old swedish death metal tones. 😁

I don't get it. What do you want to see in more advanced plugins? Do you want something without knowing what? Be specific. What plugin do you want? What should it be able to do, etc.? You don't even know what result you want to achieve? In order for people to create a surprisingly interesting plugin, society has to demand it. In any case, no matter how perfect the plugin is, you will be driving an ordinary Marshall or Peavey, etc. CLOWN

I think it's definitely cool that they're not trying to make it look like some pedals with an amp head and a cabinet with speakers. It's 21st century digital look and feel! Thanks for sharing this plugin! Edit: I do have to admit that the 'distortion' does sound more like digital 'saturation' (which obviously is what it is). Still, it sounds better than the Peavey "saturation" I had in my Decade amp several decades ago. 😁

I gave it a pass originally because I liked Parallax more than Mammoth and figured Rhino wouldn’t be better than any of my Neural suites. But I watched Scott Elliot’s video on it (Chernobyl Studios on youtube) and immediately went and demo’d it, only to buy it a few hours later. I love how the layout forces you to use your ears rather than your eyes and how it doesn’t say what amps or cabs your using. The hot knob is also great in my opinion as it adds good upper mids and treble to my ears (or something). Only thing it could use is some level matching. Some of the amp heads are not volume matched and things like the hot knob add volume to the output. At this point, I think all plugins should have at least switchable volume compensation Edit: That being said, Fluff I think you should do a remix of your intro for each video using whichever plugin you’re reviewing just for schnitz and schnizzels or whatever the hell Warren Huart says

I've been a diehard fan of Neural DSP for a long time, but Rhino is on sale right now and I decided to pick it up. I'm pretty damn impressed. Rhino excels at delivering killer tones with minimal effort from the user. Calling this an amp sim I think is actually underselling it a bit. That being said, I still prefer playing through my Neural amp sims more than this. Because Rhino isn't really an amp sim (imo), it doesn't feel like you're playing through an amp. Neural still delivers that feeling in spades.

Unfortunately no longer $50... but alas, it is nice. I use it mainly on ipad as my one-stop DSP before my amp. Given the nature of plugins and signal chain, I would like to see a way to "shim" in a modulation or delay effect via effect send/return to add it where you want in the chain. Am I missing some way to do that?

I watched Chernobyl's video on it and immediately downloaded the demo. Seems like it has some performance issues with the GUI, however - moving stuff around as well as the animations are noticeably laggy. Also, I encountered some issues with the noisegate making some strange noises, as well as occasional audio stutters/pops. It also crashed a couple of times. It's a really cool product, however some additional polish would go a long way.

Okay I know I’m going to sound like the elitist here but I have this sim and it’s my favorite one so far I haven’t found one that I really liked and now that I have this available I really wish I had a physical version, whether that’s in the form of multiple pedals or one big one like the quad cortex but smaller in size like the line 6 stomp. I definitely don’t have a setup to run an amp sim live let alone trust my laptop make it happen. As always loved the video!

Never used an amp sim. I’m 25 years old now, and have mostly just been seeking out the best bang for buck and relative high quality $2-300 ~40 watt combo amps. Is this a good first/introductory amp sim? Surely a reasonable investment at this level, right?
@GartenhausLP3 жыл бұрын
Depends on what you want to do I guess. For recording? Sure. An amp suite like this makes it significantly easier getting usuable tones than using individual plugins and a lot cheaper than doing the same with hardware. For practice? Probably not. The last thing you want for a practice amp/sim is too much choice because option paralysis is a thing and it can and will keep you from actually playing.
@nightdew49343 жыл бұрын
The major investment will be the audio interface unless you have one already. If you haven't tried any amp sims before you should probably start with a free one to see if it's for you. There are some great ones out there that definitely rival the commercial offerings, like Ignite amps Emissary, Audiority L12X or even Fluff's own Amped Roots Free. Also consider that good IRs are probably more important for your tone than the amp sim.
@johnkoch93153 жыл бұрын
@@nightdew4934 I know nothing about this. Though this was like Reaper or something of like “y’know what, that price definitely doesn’t seem like a big ask.” Amp sim to me purely meant something digital which functions as an amplifier but is not a dedicated amplifier cabinet device and is likely software. Gun to your head for best or first recommendation free software though? Like the wmm/iMovie/audacity of “amp sims”?
@coffeeguitar23753 жыл бұрын
Dude honestly you should get a boss katana. It’s a great combo amp for practice and you can record with it into your daw. There is a lot of great free amp sims btw.

@@johnkoch9315 Damn, late reply here, but youtube doesn't seem to want to tell me when people respond to my comments O.o Yeah 40 definitely isn't that much to ask, but it never hurts to check out free offerings first to see if they cover your needs. If you're asking for free music software in general I'll cheat a bit and say everything by Tokyo Dawn Labs. If you're asking for amp sims in particular I'll say Emissary simply because it's the most versatile of the ones I mentioned, it even has a great clean sound.

Hey there, what reference monitors are you using to listen to yourself play? I use KRKs (Rokit 6 3G), but can't use them for direct playback with my guitar, as they begin to pop once I add any drive to the guitar.
