Tip of the day: Buy the Torpedo Captor X - it's exactly the same as this and more , and it's way cheaper than this.

captor x has three way step attenuation, this instead seems to go down up to zero after the -16db level

I hear that 2 notes thing, but mesa has absolutely knocked the ball out of the park with this. The attenuator is beyond the best I've used.

The Mesa has a much better attenuator. It has a 150W max load vs the Captor's 100W max. And the Mesa can attanuate 100%, while the Captor is limited to a 38db reduction.

Funny i just bought this exact same unit off Reverb from Seattle Guitar Store in Port Townsend. At least I got to hear it working. Did you load it with any personal IR's? Lol. $500 bones. Only thing you didnt review was the attenuation. Best attenuation Ive heard. After I tried one out I had to find one.

I’m considering another attenuator with IRs. I have the OX. It’s amazing. The Room mic IR sounds are incredible. I’d like to know how they compare. The specific ohm version probably makes this a no go.

Wow so the only reason to get this is the logo we could get a used 4x12 standard, only thing is this one has built in mic’s which isn’t too good cause one part of recording a cab is the microphone and their position is what gives you a special sound. So there’s only so far to how this thing could go for studio recording since you’d have to get a new amp to really get a different sound instead of just dialing stuff in and getting different mics and stuff to change your sound. For live though that would be cool so you get a mic’d up type of tone without having a Isolation cab somewhere in the back

Here we are 3 years later and it's still being sold for around $850 !!! I feel like a cheapskate saying it, but ever since getting the Boss IR-2 for 1/3 the price and being able to load up the same IR files onto it (yes, same as in this video), I don't see the value in buying one of these at that price point. Might as well just save up a little more money and get an actual Mesa Boogie amp/cab.

Two notesTorpedo live. No app needed. This mesa cabclone ir+ has a two notes sound chip inside it. Thats for good reason. With the torpedo live you have an option to run the remote via laptop to control your settings, but it's not required. You can do everything you need from the interface of the unit itself. You can also run a capture of your own mic/cab combo using two notes blendir and then load the ir into the unit, to have an ir of your actual live cab. I did it for my mesa 4x12 and it was easy, and the results were great. Once you have your cab picked, its very set it and forget it, which I absolutely love.

I really like that product from what I've heard and seen but at $800 it's way overpriced for what it is, especially since there's a Two Notes chip in it. I'd pay $450 for it. At $800, I'd rather put a little more and go with a Two Notes Torpedo, more features, and band for your buck or just get the Torpedo Captor X, which is cheaper and does pretty much the same thing. In short, I don't like the Mesa tax.

Mesa should do what marshall have done with thier DSL line and bring us the mesa tone in lower price Range. I'm not talking mark 2 c plus tones. But sort of like a all around solid tone that has the identity of mesa. They could do it by having them made in China . I mean if u buy a chinese mesa and expect a American made one then u are dumb ass shit. And it wouldn't hurt the brand since we all still think that Marshall is a brand of great heritage despite of the budget DSL range.
