When I reached this part in the MSQ, I'm there on the trolley, wondering why the ominous yellow battle circle was there. The door opens, BAM there's Ran'jit just chilling there. I remember saying something along the lines of "What the fu- what is Ran'jit doing there?! Oh and he's roundhouse kicked my trolley into goddammed atmosphere. Nice. Seriously, was he just waiting there knowing we'd eventually come by trolley just to round house kick the damn thing?"

I think he was! And it's not like he really did anything important or had any kind of character arc. He was just a generic "bad guy" who shows up and roundhouse kicks entire trolley cars into the air.

Yeah, it's nice to have a chance to fight him but battle of the dads would have been a better send off for him. Especially after revealing that he genuinely cared for the other Minfillia's.

I agree. The first fight with Ran'jit I kited him in the circle taking little to no damage because attacks were predictable got him slowly and boringly down to half health when the game plot armored him an instant victory. So from that point on I just saw him as the annoying guy i keep beating up but keeps showing up at annoying times for a fresh one. Plus his back story basically amounted to: "I give up". Still it all worked I guess because I did hate him. Emet on the other hand was a boss.

I realize I'm quite late here, but at least the way I saw it he didn't really need to be a major character, we know at this point that with a villain like that we're going to get beat around a bit, have some stuff in-between, and then inevitably come back to beat them in a big final battle, it's a forgone conclusion, so his backstory and power is almost irrelevant, they spend a lot more time on more interesting characters like Emet and Vauthry. Basically to me it was an intentional thing, it feels like he was something of an intentional reflection of Zenos, something to show how almost routine this has become now, we aren't even really surprised when he shows up out of the blue. But that's just my thoughts
