You know what our parents did. He was one over a little bit older so well we got a little sneak. I mean we weren't exactly poor but we weren't exactly the rockfords either. But my mom always my mom said well tell you what. If you haven't seen it already you know what candy usually goes on sale afterwards. So we could either get you $30 a chocolate now, or you can double the amount of chocolate you can get after Halloween. Because most of the stores usually did a two for one or 50% off or maybe even more after Halloween so to get rid of the extra candy they couldn't sell it for. Man we never turn down that offer. But then again he is an interesting simple rule. It's not how much you make, but how well you spend

Took my baby (at the time) sister trick or treating with a friend and his baby sister one time. His mom and mine walked with us and we’d go to the doors. I think my brother was back at the apartment with our friend’s older sister (me and the sister were the same age and he was the same age as my brother) because he got sick or something. When we got to stairs, our baby sisters would stay downstairs while we went up with both holders each (i had a body pillow case and friend had a shopping bag or something while our sisters had those cute themed buckets) and just tell people we were getting candy for ourselves and our little siblings because they couldn’t get up the stairs safely. Most people would believe us or peek and see the little ones then give us candy. There was one lady though who just glared at us and i could tell she was about to close the door in our faces (without giving us ANYTHING) so i smiled politely and told her to wait one second. Then i went downstairs (only one flight), grabbed my sister, went back up the stairs, and held the toddler (i said baby because she’s eight years younger than me) up a bit and told the lady that was my sister and his was still downstairs because his mom would’ve smacked me if i’d grabbed her too. We not only got the original candy we were owed, but we older kids each got an extra handful because we’re such amazing older siblings (the lady’s words not mine) and deserved extra. I held my sister’s hand going down the stairs, got bitched at for snagging her ( i DID say why i was doing it as i grabbed her) and ended up trading my sister for most of her good stuff anyways when we were done. I don’t like fruit tootsie rolls and she preferred softer chocolates (like snickers or milky way) to like Heath and Twix (baby teeth, remember). Hell of a haul any year i went with my sister. Especially the ones i showed people i was literally her security.
