When I buy tools, I never buy the most expensive or the absolute cheapest but in this case, this was a CHEAP 200cc Thorstone FLUID EXTRACTOR
It is worth every penny in my opinion. Light weight extractor that is not top-heavy so you can drain it down into your collection container. I like it so much I bought two of them. #thorstone
 I seen quite a few of these on the Amazon. They all look the same so I imagine some company makes them and just sources them out to different companies that want to put their private label on them. I wouldn't have one if the Troybilt mower had a drain plug. It does work. I think between the plugs, and hose I would have been better off buying one. Thank you for the shout out Kev.

I know there’s many different tools and apparatuses for removing fluid. This is just a cheap way of doing it! Perfect for small jobs like a mower for example that doesn’t have a drain plug. I thought it was a good value👍😎👍 Take it Easy! 👍Kev 👍

Two really good reasons I bought one are 1. An easier way to get your oil sample to send off for a oil analysis vs the "clean catch method when draining and 2. We ALL have had the occasion that, as well as we are careful to fill/add oil for an oil change, the dipstick indicates an oil level that is just a bit too high on the stick. And when we "try" to drain that little bit via the drain plug, shit happens draining out too much or "worstly", dropping the damn drain plug and basically starting the oil change over 😞.... This pump is "just the ticket".... P.S. The hose fitting size is a common 1/4 inch and all the home improvement stores carry the 1/4 inch white/teflon tubing that does fit nicely in the dipstick tube. Mark that tube to only reach the length of your stick so you don't get your sample from the oil pan bottom....

I have the Craftsman version. If I extract fluid that spilled (such as oil and coolant that pooled at the bottom of my car's oil filter housing), some of the fluid will just leak back on the surface. Should I try to bend the front of tube to reduce the force of gravity? At this point, a turkey baster works just as well. How do I prevent the fluid from leaking out? What am I missing?

If it reaches fluid, it should suck it! It’s probably all down in your oil pan

@@Kevscancave so I don’t actually know if it’s reaching the fluid. I just thought I was suppose to put it in the dipstick hole and it would work but I was wrong. I’ll try running the engine a little and maybe that will work?

@@rileydiederich7588 I always put in 3/4s of the oil, start the car run it for a minute or so.. turn it off then recheck! … then add as needed. Unfortunately, you’ll probably have to loosen the drain plug some if you drastically overfilled it.. hope this helps

Hello there. I saw this item on sale and was thinking of using it to extract old brake fluid from the bleeder plug of each caliper. Will this work? Will any of the hoses fit into the bleeder plug snugly or might the item you were pushing @1:55 come in handy? Thanks.

Hi John thanks for your comment. I think it’s cheap enough to buy it and try? The thing I was pushing on at 1:55 was just a coupler to extend the hose, but that could possibly aid you also. I’m not sure how much pressure you would have trying to draw out of them small brake lines. It wasn’t exactly the easiest to use( pull wise) as it is a pretty tight unit. but it didn’t leak and that was a good thing! Thanks again please let me know what you find out!

I do think the vacuum created by the suction would be sufficient to draw out the old fluid, it's pretty strong and air-tight as evidenced by the test you did at the end of the video. So I'll start at the master cylinder and then move on to each of the wheels. Thank you for your video and you have a nice day sir.
