I don’t speak Hindi but I managed to partly follow this by following your written work which seemed very clear and informative. Please consider putting in English subtitles as well as I think this lecture should be more popular and accessible. Thank you

Sir how can the direction of velocity of stream curves or direction of flow can be determined, does the negative sign in stream curve equation means this that the concentric circles formed due to various values of R should be in clock wise direction which was our assumption?

I have a doubt sir. If you are saying the vortex flow is the special case of potential flow and we know potential flow is irrotational but in this session you are saying vortex flow is the motion of rotating fluid so this gives it as a rotational this implies it is not irrotational and hence not potential... ... Resolve my query please!

vortex flow is a type of potential flow but according to potential flow , fluid is irrotational but vortex flow is rotating about an axis . this is contradictory or i am missing the concept
@AkibJahangirChoudhury
@AkibJahangirChoudhury 27 күн бұрын
In a free vortex, the tangential velocity decreases with r (V is inversely proportional to r as Vr=Const) which means there is no rigid body rotation. This velocity profile prevents the formation of local rotation (vorticity). Also you can see from the polar coordinates that U(theta) is inversely proportional to r. So for irrotational flow vorticity=0. So when you find the vorticity in cylindrical coordinates then you find that the vorticity is 0 everywhere except at r=0 where the velocity becomes undefined due to singularity.

Thanks sir. Sir, *One Doubt* How we got the equation of Circumferential velocity i.e., u= -d(si)/dr = (1/r)× (d(phi)/d(theta)) Please sir, *Do Reply*

In lecture 33 of “Source Flow and Sink Flow” sir wrote the stream function and potential function in polar coordinates. From there Sir wrote the equation for circumferential velocity directly. Although Sir hasn’t showed us the derivation for this.

Sir in free vortex velocity what happened to the velocity with radius. I mean it's(velocity) increase or decrease?
@yassershaikh9899
@yassershaikh9899 5 жыл бұрын
i guess it has to decrease as u can see the equation for a free vortex flow is"V x r=CONSTANT" so if one increases(radius) the other has to decrease(velocity) i feel to maintain a constant

In forced vortex flow torque is not zero then how can u say omega is const.
@OnkarShrma
@OnkarShrma 6 жыл бұрын
Bro torque is not zero but it is also constant. The first condition of generation of any vortex flow is constant torque. And in free vortex flow torque also exist but that torque is not external or applied.

The particles only have circulation however, as no external torque is applied upon the particles they do not rotate about their individual axis therefore angular velocity is zero about it
