Any reason your prefer the naked jigs to the painted and shaped ones? Is that just a consumer catcher instead of a fish catcher
@shore-moneyfishing19393 жыл бұрын
Honestly, no difference in the surf. Fluke love the shine.
@CookingandFishing3 жыл бұрын
The paint/design is far less important than the line tie angle and quality of the hook. 90 degree ball heads have very erratic movement, esp if you're snapping off slack line and doubly so with a correctly tied loop knot.
@bena40723 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the gear review - impressive set-up. Also, Olympic rod looks sweet - let us know how it performs. They have a heavier Vigore casting rod too - wonder if it might work for blackfish jigging. How do you test out JDM gear and get a feel for it before buying during the pandemic? In 2019, when I was in Japan, I looked at and bought a Dialuna based on your cousin's review and I really love it. Curious how you are able to research all this JDM gear? Thanks
@shore-moneyfishing19393 жыл бұрын
Will do! This was a special gift but I can tell you it fishes lighter than it's rated too. Like I said in the video, this rod is rated up to 3/4oz but I wouldn't toss anything more than 3/8oz max. Shines at 1/4oz and lighter presentation with its tip.

great video ! can you tell me about the size between daiwa certate 3000 vs 4000 is both reels are same body size and which one would you recommend between shimano tp vs certate
@CookingandFishing3 жыл бұрын
Definitely Certate over TP, and any of the "C" (compact) bodies are next size down with same capacity spool, so the 3000CXH is a 2500 body with 3k spool, and the 3000LT is the true 3k body + spool, all the 4k Certates are compact bodies and then it jumps to the 5k models. For shore fluking I would not go beyond the 3000LT.

Do you dispatch the fluke you keep on stringer or do you keep alive. Looks like you dispatch the fish through the gills. Also, are you fishing up what I call northern beaches or do you fish further south? Northern beaches are those above Pt. Pleasant. Southern are beaches below Pt. Pleasant/Mantaloking inlets? I fish on southern beaches around Lavalette to LBI. That is of course for off-shore. Do you do bay fishing off the few docks in the upper and lower Barnegat Bay areas?
@CookingandFishing3 жыл бұрын
If we're keeping fluke we bring a cooler; quick poke in the membrane above the gill rakers bleed out then into cooler - dragging fish around a stringer all day doesn't sound like fun (or good eats). Here's a review of the cooler we use - kzbin.info/www/bejne/aHepmXlmjcegoJo

Greetings....Just got my 1/4 oz Gami Jigheads and for a 3/0 size hook they look really small...could they have put the wrong hook in?
@CookingandFishing2 жыл бұрын
I mean 3/0 isn't a small hook, if you're rigging it on a 6" jerk shad the hook point should come out around the first "E" in BERKLEY across the back of the bait lol
@josepharvizzigno46412 жыл бұрын
So the difference in gape between a 3/0 Gami and a 3/0 VMC Boxer is huge. I have a photo but I don’t think I can post a photo here
@CookingandFishing2 жыл бұрын
Yeah there are no standardized hook sizing across companies - the gammys are much better hooks than the VMCs, and that 3/0 is perfect for the 6" jerk shad.
@josepharvizzigno46412 жыл бұрын
I’ll Give them a go…i have yet to see you miss a bite on your vids. The Gami is indeed sharper with a smaller barb..
@CookingandFishing2 жыл бұрын
@@josepharvizzigno4641 Yeah you'll have no problems with that jig - it's all about matching your tackle though every component - that hook gauge thickness is just right for 10-12lb fluoro, and also matches the M - ML freshwater bass rod actions perfectly. Any thicker gauge wire and you're looking at a heavier line/rod setup to properly sink home the barb, esp on a big fish.
