Fluke / Flounder fishing from shore. Had one of the best and longest fights ever on rod and reel. Also made a new friend, surfer girl, Nikki.

I have a friend who has had a few boats over the last 35-40 years with his dad and brother and nephew. But, we always surf fish. And? Aren't opposed to sitting on the bank of a river or lake. I'm 63, so I've been on Party boats and great lakes charters. Was married for 30 years. But, the "" Til death do you part clause"" kicked in. Keep going out and feeding your soul. Best medicine and therapy there is. Great video.

Thanks Chris. I'm in my 60s also. I have walked up to 10 miles on the beach, according to my fitness watch gizmo. I also fish fresh water from shore, or bridges, or spill ways. I do own a boat for fresh water, but don't always have the extra cash to use it. Fishing from shore saves lots of money. Thanks for watching, and stay young! Good Luck!

Awesome video! I go to LBI every year and always hope on party boats but its always hit or miss. I would love to catch fluke from the beach! Do you focus more on the tide charts or the time of day? I tried surf fishing but never had any luck but you peaked my interest to try again seeing that you are using relatively light gear. Could you let me know what set up you are using so I could get some stuff ordered up for my trip! Thanks

Thanks! I fish with a 7 ft, MH rod, 3000 size reel, filled with 15 lb braid, and 20 lb leader. The bucktail is 1/2 oz. Low tide is the best time to find the "structure" along the shore. Points and troughs in the sand. Low tide also concentrates the fish. They will move into the troughs, or low/deeper areas. Thanks for watching! Good Luck!

Very possible that ray ate the bucktail. Happens regularly enough here in South Africa. Yeah we have different species to you but the way they feed is very similar
