The only thing that I will say about spot burning is this. People that don’t own a boat can only go to so many available spots and that is why some fishermen get upset. If you have a boat you can go fish anywhere you would like. I have a boat and I won’t fish close to a shoreline if I see fishermen on shore. It’s just a respect issue for me.

We’ve overfished the oceans. 35-40 years ago, my friend would go out in his boat, him and his dad, Jersey shore, and come back with 20-30 huge flounder…every time. Me…I had to fish off the docks and caught very little cuz my friends father thought I was a bad influence on his son. Maybe I was… But they overfished the bay, not me.

Please don't let fish touch the dry sand if you're not sure if they're keepers. Wet sand doesn't stink so much but dry sand ruins the slime coat and it can easily kill the fish in the next couple days. I have seen it happen. Obviously if they're going home it doesn't matter but try to keep the short ones clean. I fish in the Chesapeake Bay and mostly target flounder. I moved here last year so I'm still learning the area. I've caught about 70 shorts and only 3 keepers. And other people are having a tough time finding decent fish. Yesterday I got a 20" flatty from the beach, I was stoked. Those bridge pilings you were near look really good. I can see why you fish there.
@noboatrequired68954 ай бұрын

@@noboatrequired6895 WOW, 300 is a lot of fish. I have to work and I don't know spots to catch that many. The spot that had the 20" fish is new to me, it was my first time there. I'll be going back to that beach and those rocks. I have a kayak and I fish around the Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel when I have a buddy who will go. It's not safe alone. Where do you live? I'm not trying to take your spots, I'm just curious what area has so many flat fish.
