I noticed your hook is comming out of the belly of the shad rather than the back...IYO, does it make a difference and why.....Great Vids.
@CookingandFishing3 жыл бұрын
Makes zero difference with gulp since it's not a dual density bait, and often it's easier to rig it straight coming out the belly.

Roger and Marc - great videos! been following your exploits for a while. Just curious, have you considered using Suzuki rods in an overhead/baitcast configuration? Specifically for flounder and other bottom dwellers ...
@CookingandFishing4 жыл бұрын
I've thought about it, but honestly...I wouldn't use my baitcasters anywhere near sand. If I'm only fishing bulkheads/piers etc, maybe.

Are you stationary fishing what appears to be the same hole or are you walking the beach?
@shore-moneyfishing19394 жыл бұрын
Mostly walking. You need to be willing to cover the beach until you find a patch of fluke.

cover water until you catch one. Then pound it to the ground. rinse/repeat!

When you guys talk about light rods how light we talking
@shore-moneyfishing19394 жыл бұрын
< 5oz. From shore, you don't need anything more than a 7' freshwater spinning rod that is rated to 5/8oz. Fast action M power is the sweetspot. For more on fluking rods my cousin did a review here kzbin.info/www/bejne/h6uQiKijr8dpr8k.

Q: who makes the light jigs u lime, with hooks large enough for fluke? Thanks
Always walk and cast, then work through an area that holds fish thoroughly.

Even better chances using a bare hook teaser with gulp, on a dropper loop 12 inches up from your bottom rig. Also you're supposed to measure under the fish, not above.
@CookingandFishing4 жыл бұрын
lol ok
@shore-moneyfishing19394 жыл бұрын
There are no need for teasers when you fish a single jig correctly. Cheers!

@@CookingandFishing honestly i think he's got a point with measuring fluke from the bottom. dat curvature has got to add a few mm's
@CookingandFishing4 жыл бұрын
@@idkwhattouseforname on that point he's absolutely correct, we do give a few mm of leeway when measuring over the fish but a bumpboard solution is in the works. The only accurate measurement is on a bumpboard!

I’ll just never understand how guys use jigs under 1 ounce or even 1 - 1/2 😔
@CookingandFishing4 жыл бұрын
You can start with 1oz and work your way down, the lighter the jig the longer the "hang time" in the strike zone. Fluke generally feed up, that's why the teaser is so effective. But a precisely fished single jig will catch quality, at least inshore and from land. Just mo!

Thank you roger I fished a Chanel today from boat and the drift was rippin
@totalnoobfishing17534 жыл бұрын
@@CookingandFishing Really strong point, an easy way to tell if your jig is too heavy is if you use a hi\lo rig (with gulp etc. ) and you ALWAYS catch fish on the upper hook only. I did this for a while, using a 2oz bucktail and quickly realized the bucktail was simply a vessel to get my upper hook out there
