Dear Nancy , I have been working precious metals in UK for many years but there is always something new to learn ( sometimes for fun , sometimes for the ridiculous repairs and remodelling I get asked to do) You are the very best of instructors… thank you so much for your wonderfully clear and conscience videos and sharing your excellent knowledge & experience ( ie if it does this you can do that ….covering so many eventualities that only a pro would know ) Your videos are Pure Gold to any serious Jeweller or smith . You have taught me heaps , Thank you from the bottom of my ❤

really good, clear and concise. You can also choose to make four incisions with a very pointed hardened object (that looks very similar to an engraving chisel) proportinally measured to have a steady set stone.

thanks for taking the time to make this, I was hoping someone would. I have no trouble setting cabs, but for some reason a bit intimidated by the faceted stuff, but as a "native american" themed jeweler, it's hard to break out of turquoise and coral for some, I don't see whats non native about setting a nice tourmaline next to a sky blue sleeping beauty cab, and it costs alot for the DVDs from Rio Grande, thank you

Great fun video again. Great info. Wish I could set those 2mm stones....but, that's okay. I have Macular Degeneration (yup the doc shoots me in the eyes every month) and a bit of a torn retina, so I stick with the bigger stuff. Still its an excellent video no matter the size and I learned some great new techniques. :) Thanks so much Nancy.

I am all for re-purposing old tools into new tools. I have found that many of these old grinding stone mounts are chrome plated and you will need to use a bench grinder to get through the chrome. No need to ruin a good file trying to file chrome.

Hey Nanc.. exactly what are the polishing "points" that fit your flex shaft you showed breifly to clean up the scratch marks and where do i get them?-- Also Is it true you can set the stone with just one bur if you use a heart bur?

Hi Nancy!thank you so much for sharing your knowledge for free.I am a beginner and self-taught and your videos are very helpful (and fun too!)I have a question about calipers : I need a digital one but I am confused, what's a fair price for a decent digital caliper?I saw a lot of them online, all similar to each other but some of them are very expensive and some are very cheap! Maybe too much to be some accurate tools.... so I need a professionist's opinion! Thanx again and cheers from Italy!
