These completely changed my aquariums! I prefer the open top aquariums with little to no surface agitation and this skimmer keeps them looking great. I’ve even modified a couple to attach to c series filters without the need to attach the skimmer to the glass. And they’re quiet! I’ve tried hard to make them shrimp proof, but no go. It’s easy to filter them out from the bottom intake, but the biofilm that collects on the floating skimmer is just too irresistible and they crawl through the slats. I have one on almost every tank. They just work

I loved mine until the auction cup went bad. Fluval needs a magnetic attachment to guarantee it stays attached to the glass then it'd be not only good for freshwater but saltwater nano tanks that aren't drilled. I'd be happy to test the prototype

Since you replaced the intake stem containing the priming ball, how will the priming plunger now work after the inevitable cleaning of the hoses?

We are not clear on your question, however, when priming the filter do so without the surface extractor attached, then add it after the filter is ready for operation.

Fluval makes some of the best products on the market, I personally own 2 planted 3.0, 2 FX4’s, 207, etc, etc, etc. With that said, You could achieve so much more if you worked with prominent “Fish Tube” channels that prefer your products but promote other products because you’re nowhere to be found when it comes to supporting the hobby. (Specifically in this KZbin world) Just my opinion but sponsoring a few channels like Aquarium Co-op, Prime Time Aquatics, King of DIY, etc, etc would get more direct consumer eyes on your products. I have zero personal interest in this, I don’t have a channel and never will but I do follow the trends constantly, I worked in national spot sales & advertising for years. Regardless, you do provide great products and I highly recommend your equipment to anyone that’s in the market for Aquarium equipment.

I was told to get a FX6 because it's the best and while I like it, I'm disappointed with the lack of accessories. Their other lines have them but the FX does not. Like this skimmer or the UV light. Disappointment.

Yes the Fluval Surface Skimmer does work with the 06 and 07 canister filter series, yes Tom is aware, the video you are referring to was produced/launched well before the 07 series was produced.

Just bought this and installed it on my Fluval 207. But micro bubbles are coming out of the output every once in a while. Is this normal? Will the bubbles stop after the skimmer breaks in? Please advise.

You can adjust the filter body slightly upwards in the retention clamp, that should solve the issue.

Hi there! The Surface Skimmer is only compatible with canister filters with 5/8" / 16 mm hosing, such as the 07 Series.

It is designed to connect directly to the intake of an 06 or 07 series Fluval cansiter filter.

wait if you are installing this directly to the in-flow tube then this would only filter and pickup gunk from the surface and would take away the suction intake piece that sucks up all the gunk from the bottom of your tank then. That means you would be left with a bunch of gunk in the bottom of your tank then instead of then. That doesn't help, so you solve one thing but are left with another problem. That's no help

If you are using an adequately sized filter for your aquarium, the flow will not allow waste and debris to accumulate at the bottom of the tank, but rather will resuspend it in the water column, from where the filter can remove it.

The Roma 90 comes with a U2 internal filter which would not be compatible with this surface skimmer as it is meant to connect to a siphon style inlet tube.

They will say no, because fluvals sucks. But it will work with some reducers an adapters. The fx4 I believe is 3/4 or 1" tube where the 407 is likely 1/2". Also, there is a non fluvals branded one on Amazon for a better price, I had it when I had my 406 years ago and I could not tell the difference between fluvals and the other
