Fluval Q2 Review Air Pump Q1 and Q3 Series

Tetra whispers have adjustable air dual outputs as well. My whisper 60 is quieter and outputs more air then my q2. The q2 is in the closet sitting in a box and I don’t need foam under my whisper for noise. It sits on a shelf in the cabinet under my tank and when the door is closed I don’t here it at all. The whisper and q2 are the same size, rated for the same output even though the q2 box over states the size tank it’s good for and I’ve run both side by side and the whisper is hands down much quieter. The fluval has a weird vibration the reverbs through the feet on the unit because of how the air is pumped. That’s why you need foam under it to silence it. Get it close to something and it will vibrate off it and be super loud. I can sit things on top of my whisper and it never makes a noise. Dollar per dollar the whisper is hands down the best air pump around. There are quieter ones out there.. there are ones that pump more air. But best all around for money spent the whispers win.

Either make sure nothing is touching the pump, make sure the rubberised bottom is making full contact, or you're correct- place it on something softer.

Honestly up or down on the air pump or sponge underneath or custom box or anything to quiet it doesn’t help it’s just a loud ass pump. Don’t use in a living room or bedroom for sure. It’s just too loud.

Please show how to change the diaphragm in the Q1. Mine is not putting out very much air flow and make a lot of noise if I use both air nozzles.

I went with your advice a purchased the Fluval q1, it is loud which doesn't bother me because it's in my daycare which is in the basment, what bothers me Isi have it running a small sponge filter in a 45 gallon another smal sponge filter in a 5 gallon, and an air stone in another 5 gallon, and that's all I can get out of it which I don't the no is much at all, I really want to put a bubbler stone in my 45, but I just can't get it to put enough air to all, do you have any suggestions?

Only the Q2 have a dial to control the airflow! If you gonna make a video abot something you have to get tha facts abot the product Ok!

I haven't tried the Fluval but I have multiple Tetra Whispers. As you stated it may need something underneath them to cut the vibration. I found that the Diversitech MP4-E E.V.A. Anti Vibration Pads work super great for these air pumps. They can be bought on Amazon. And I also use the Silicone Vibration Silencer under my SunSun canister filter that is also fantastic. These can be bought from Bulk Reef Supply, who I must also commend for their great customer service.

Sooo got a BEAUTIFUL oscar a week ago about 3 in then... i swear this thing is growing like crazy! Im worried about starving it but also i dont wanna over feed? P.s im not a noob about tank size. But its diet is very confusing. I feed two times 9 a.m and 5 p.m pinch of pellets and a little bit of frozen brine shrimp

For starters that’s a lot of food to be feeding even to an Oscar.. you are feeding that one fish about the same amount daily as I feed my 125g highly stocked adult cichlid tank.

john smith you do know these pellets are like a crumb and only 4 or 3 of them get eaten. The frozen brine shrimp clump is about thw size of my pinky finger nail. As soon as he stops eating i clean the bottom asap

HeatedHead no I don’t know cause a pinch is an actual unit of measure so I was going off what you said. Crumbs or large pebbles a pinch would still be the same amount just one being smaller pieces and the other larger. That’s like saying 8 .5mm pellets is less food then 2 2mm pellets. It’s the same amount just different sizes. If I actually take a pinch of 2mm pellets with my fingers and place it into a measuring spoon the amount is roughly 1/2 a teaspoon which is exactly how much I feed 30 cichlids 2x a day. And I have small fingers. If you are using the right size pellets for the right size fish you should only be feeding 1-2 pellets per fish. Properly fed fish should always be hungry. If you are feeding till they stop eating and are full and have to remove extra food from the tank you are way way over feeding. The whole feed as much as they eat in x time concept is bs. Feeding is based on weight and size of fish and food.

Tetras are the worst pump s they overheat quick I've had 6 this year all went out .just bought a fluval off chewy I will see how it works

BUYER BE AWARE!! This airpump sucks a tremendous amount of power and is NOT UPS friendly! I'm running 2 heaters, 1 Fluval 07, as well as a heat lamp (100w) off of a CyberPowrt 1500 kv 900 watt ups. When I connect the Q2 to the ups, it rejects the airpump EVERY time! ... just sayin'!!

When u make a review of fluval airpumps u MUST HAVE the knowledge about the differens between models! Q2 is pretty quiet and have an electronical adjustment of flow! The rest does not and they are loud ass hell so pls stay away from that crap!

these are horrible and loud pumps I would never buy one again the eheim air pumps are a lot quieter
