As obsessed as I’ve been with next level modern designs for literally since my first days w Adobe Muse and multi layered mobile friendly parallax almost 10 yrs ago, I’m constantly having to scale back my fav design elements as 80% of most client sites visitors want to view what they don’t have to struggle to navigate and appreciate (most humans want what they know, not to get frustrated figuring out something new, especially when most visitors in our ADD day and age will give 3-5 secs to a site click) Even for myself most of these are a bit too unique but hats off 100 to them for going full tilt indeed!

that is the thing with design, and why i am designing my own portfolio without all the bells and whistles. whenever i look at these portfolios it looks absolutely incredible, but i am just frustrated that there are so many animations.
@jackiemasek83022 жыл бұрын
The biggest takeaway for me was the audio testimonials. That’s beyond genius! My iPhone has a voice recorder… for free! So it wouldn’t be difficult to whip that out and ask the client to just speak into the “mic”. The sites you chose are beautiful but I do wonder how effective they are at booking more clients.

I think these Site are not made to get more Leads, these are fully booked web-designer with huge companies working with. Its more about showing the creativity. They dont want more Customers, they just want cool projects.

holy shit, the last one is genuinly insane. One of the best portfolios i have ever seen

To me, these animations are just way over the top. Granted, you can get away with more stuff on a portfolio, but no one wants to really sit and wait or be obstructed from viewing the actual content. If you run say an e-commerce business you quickly discover that you have to throw away all those fancy things, because they hurt you a lot more than they help, and what matters is getting sales, not how flashy they look.

That’s why you design a website that’s geared towards the target audience. These are portfolios, so they’re going to be geared towards other creatives, art directors, or someone who is trying to hire them. An experienced designer knows better than to not do these for sites that will be used by people outside of design. That’s why we have stakeholders and product managers to keep our creativity from going too far outside the box.
@apresthus872 жыл бұрын
@@KabbaModern03 Sure however in most cases, at least in bigger companies, the HR people are the first one to screen you and they have lots of applicants to go through and dont want to waste time. Im a developer, so its probably more extreme for the positions I target,but still. But I admit some of this is just personal opinion, I think its more bad UX than it is imoressive to look at.

Great websites! I would love that Flux can show us how to create these animations! Without these great animations on their websites, I don't think they would stand out as much.

As much as we'd like to design some next level websites that interact with cutting edge design and human friendly user experience it's almost impossible as the landscape changes so fast. And clients want what they want, a basice home page and contact use along with a portfolio and services as it does the job. What has never changed is accessibility and give the users ability to navigate to where they want to go. The limitations are our flat screen devices, if AR and VR could be implemented websites will truly come to life. I can imagine the Doriane website as part of a VR/AR experience where we can grab the animations with our virtual hands and on e-commerce sites we can literally examine products with a combination of VR and AR, visualise sizes, try clothes and touch "products". These websites are really a designers dream to break conventions and they do what they feel like doing, which is admirable.

I agree with (at this time) two critical posters below. I'm down with being creative, but as portfolio sites (to get work) some of these are not going to viewed for long. To me there are elements on some of the sites that look like they were haphazardly placed on the screen, functionality that is questionable, and possible good creative ideas that weren't really thought through when applied/constructed and for a portfolio site for possible clients to view (vs one that you are testing ideas on) that might cost you work.

Nice Website designs. Thanks for sharing this Flux. Going through this top 5 website, I'm starting to think if what you mean by "good" website is a website defined by its animalistic feature ? I'm Caleb from Nigeria, currently undergoing a training on Full-Stack development and for the Front end part of web dev, I've always used your contents here on KZbin as a guide, they help me understand the true concept and art of web design and dev.

When you do projects as Marija did with Louis Vuitton, won't you then have problems with the copyright of the images and the logo?

I'm not a lawyer so can't answer properly. My personal approach would be - do it, state that it's self initiate, and if they ask you to take it off, take it off. I can't imagine a big brand suing a small designers to a "suggested redesign"

Me: How easy was it to understand where you can find a portfolio on the website? User: Very difficult This kind of websites are a joke. Yeah the animations might look cool, but to use it it sucks, it’s terrible. It provides a headache. Ppl who are hiring or just in general looking for a designer to collaborate I bet they leave once they see the amount of interactions. GG.
