I usually don't comment on videos. But this is a really well made video. Specially about the "+1 guide" you mention. Could you explain a more on how these awards work what do you mean by there is only "1 award ticket per flight"? Keep the good work going! Cheers.

Do consider subscribing to support the channel :) Re. your question: 1 award ticket per flight in this case meant that there’s only 1 Business Class seat on this flight that you can book with points, i.e., award ticket. This applies if you’re using Aeroplan or other Star Alliance members like Turkish. It may differ if you book using Air India’s Flying Returns miles. I am not sure about that. Hope that helps!

Nice video but I'm confused - how is the cost of this flight "less than $100"? Those 90,000 points are worth a lot. On Chase for e.g. they are worth $1,350 in travel, and they can be redeemed for other things too (e.g. gift cards). So the cost of this flight is actually closer to $1,500 which is not that different from just booking it with cash? Especially in the context of possibly not getting the date you want and not being able to book more than 1 seat...

Great question! What you are talking about is opportunity cost, which is different from cost. When redeeming for gift cards, you get a value of 1-1.5 cents per point typically. Now when you redeem this for a flight that costs $2,500, the value you get is 2.78 cents per point. Does that make sense? I appreciate your feedback!

@@LevelUpWithAnisha Its not an "opportunity" cost - its a real cost. You can literally redeem those 90k points for a gift card at 1-1.5 cents/point (or better yet, for other flights at a better redemption rate closer to 1.5-2 cents/point), so its not like those 90k points are "free" and this flight only costs

@@rohitgupta3114 You are correct in the sense that the real cost is closer to $1k when you factor in the base value of the points. However, in this example, a 90K + $77 CAD is for a biz class seat that typically costs over $5K USD so it is in fact very different than booking it with cash (since you're getting almost a 4-5 CPP). For Y fares, however, Air Canada doesn't really offer great value imo, since the cash fare is typically around $1K anyway (and the one-way cash fare can even be lower if you were to book it as a round-trip). The better options are to use Qatar or American Airlines, though the latter is harder to earn. And since Qatar uses the Avios currency, you can move it from any Avios program such as BA, IB, EI, or AY. And this is relevant since most CC programs almost always have a transfer bonus to some Avios program, so you can easily get flights under 40K points from US to India one-way (and vice-versa).
