Fly Fishing: BEAUTIFUL FALL COLOR in North Carolina

It's hard to beat a day on the water surrounded by beautiful Fall color. I was fortunate enough to be able to hit the stream on a day during peak Fall color and it didn't disappoint!

Looks like driving on 23 heading North towards Franklin. My uncle sold his house up there, so no more free place to stay.

It’s sad that water like that, which would obviously be a wild trout stream if left alone, now only produces stocked fish……

I get what you mean. One thing worth noting that I love about this particular stream is that, while you’re right in that the majority of fish caught are stocked, there is actually a decent population of wild rainbows and that inhabit this stream. There were none in this video, but I frequently catch some here. Also, there is a section of this particular stream that is designated as wild only, so as you move upstream the fish become predominantly wild. I agree though-would have been cool to see some of these streams full of native fish back in the day!

@@ColbertOutdoors I’m pretty sure I know where you’re at there as I lived in Andrews for nearly a decade. I and others advocated against NCWRC creating a DH fishery there as it was already designated Wild Trout Water. It’s a shame what was done for the sake of $$$.
